Teachers Vs Parents. Who Is Responsible?

It is said that charity begins at home. And that’s actually how we get to live our lives these days. A well-trained and educated child should be referenced to a good home and background. The same thing goes for a child without discipline and home training. Such a child should also be referred to their homes for lacking all those required morals and life etiquette.

When we were in elementary school, my siblings were mostly awarded best students in some subjects. My brother most often got the overall best student in his class. The fun fact behind it is that it is interesting and nice to see him called on stage to give him some presents with Mum smiling so happily and proud of him.

There was always a behind-the-scenes. It's not the result of what was thought in the four walls of the classroom alone, but the lesson went beyond that.

After every end of the session, apart from the daily monitoring of our assignments, when we were gifted with some textbooks for our performance, our parents would get us additional and essential textbooks which are maths, English, quantitative, verbal, and a few more. Then she would tutor us herself till we were done with the textbook from cover to cover.

When we return to the next session then it would just look like we are revising what Mum already taught us in class, it became easier to understand faster. The system really helped us a lot and I can say it's an effective one.

In the same class, we also have some that when they get to drop their bags after school they are going to play around the street till the next day of school without anyone monitoring them or trying to caution them to either have their assessment done or revise their books. All of these will heavily affect the performance of a child no matter what.

A child might be dull-brained and some might be so smart. That's nature, we never have it all equally. However, the duty of a teacher is to try as much to pass the knowledge across to each student and to a different level of understanding. The teacher must not be too easygoing because of the smart ones among them, and they must not go way too hard because of the dull ones among them. That’s the way of a teacher.

It's left to individual parents to make sure they study the nature of their child and try as much to give assistance as much as they can, monitoring them to read and revise, check and assess their assignments, check their performance in the tests, and exams, and also make sure there is a cordial relationship between the child, teacher, and parent too.

In conclusion

I heard about a story where a father would always call his kid to bring his books forward and read them to him, he would correct him and scold him even though the child was trying to be right. This practice has made the child master how to read intensely. Then with time as the child grew older, he realized that his father was not even literate in any way. But he built and made him believe he was. That's actually how impactful the role of parents is in educating a child.

This is my response to the HIVE LEARNERS weekly prompt in hive learners community for the Week 138 Edition 2 and the topic to be discussed is THE TEACHERS FAULT
