Never Got To Say “Hello World”

If my calculations are right, I should be some top programmer by now but look at me, scared of pythons, both the animal and programming language. When I started my first degree, there was this computer club recruiting new programmers on campus. It was free for all. All you had to do was to come with your laptop. I had plans of being a programmer alongside what I wanted to pursue.

I actually planned on going for the first meeting. I gathered all that I needed for the meeting but I never reached the meeting. Story for another day. Months later, I saw that almost all my friends had become so good at programming. I took advantage of that and then started receiving a one on one tutoring from a friend. The first class was a success and then I planned to go for the second class but if it’s today I’ll reach his hostel, I have no idea. I’ve always admired programming and all that comes with it.

One of my closest friends is a programmer and I could look at him the whole day whiles he does whatever he’s doing. I just get really excited when I see all the behind the scenes of whatever he’s been building. He’s mostly like “oh this is the skeleton and here’s the body”. So you mean you do digital surgery? and I could have done that too if I took it a little serious back then? I’m really not sure what exactly I would have even used programming for but I just know it’s a skill I would love to have.

Another thing that I wish I could do was digital illustrations. I’m not bad at pencil and paper sketching and as crocheter, I do a lot of them actually. But when I try it on a screen, it’s a total disaster. I can’t see my left from my right. I saw how @amiegeoffrey has mastered digital illustrations and I sure should get some tips from her because my digital sketches are very funny.

I enjoy doing sketches the traditional way but imagine discarding about 10 sheets due to mistakes, as an environmentalist? I’m even shy at this point . This is why it will be so convenient for me to know how to make great designs on screens. I always say wow when I see that designers have full control over their digital inks and I aspire to be one. I think it would save me a lot of time to sketch on screen than paper. This way, I could just transfer the sketch to whatever color or tapestry app to continue designing.

Honestly, part of me doesn’t even want venture into programming anymore. I just want to keep on admiring from afar because I see how frustrated my friend gets the moment his programming starts going sideways. I’m always like “can I even handle this?”. I’ve never been bitten by a python and it’s not now that I want to prepare myself for one.
