Ameeda gazed at Mark as he made a sudden statement that kept her regurgitating.
“Wait a minute, Mark, are you joking with all you just said right now?” Ameeda could not wait an inch before asking, as she had to be told the reality.
“You have heard me right, baby. I just have to do this for my sake as well as your sake. Your parents wanted the best for you. I guess that was the reason they don't want me in your life.” Mark was so bold to reply to her, but with their eyes gazing at each other.
Ameeda's eyes were so heavy after hearing the surprising statement from Mark. “I think you are kidding me, and if that statement is a joke, please, just stop it right away”.
“I'm not joking, baby, that's the reality.” Mark could not drop the water from his mouth before uttering those words.
Before she could give a reply, those heavy eyes of hers started dripping the heavy water that had been stored for that moment. Mark immediately drew closer and wrapped Ameeda around his massive body. Ameeda could not resist him as both had been lovers for so long.
“I don't want your parents to see me as a liability, and so I have to go out there and so far away from here, just to rediscover my track. I think this would be the best for us and the relationship," Mark added, but those words seem heavy while saying them.
“To rediscover, you said, right? Don't you know how it's going to hurt me staying here lonely?” The teardrops from Ameeda’s eyes can fill a 35-liter bottle.
.” I'm not leaving forever, but just to know my track and discover my future.” Mark was so sure of his words without leaving any stone unturned.
“From my instinct, that's a total goodbye call. Can't you wait a bit and let me speak to my parents?” she asked.
Mark, on the other hand, had started crying but was not ready to back down his words. Mark is just a stranger in the village who only came to serve his native land. He got to know Ameeda when he was coming back from the school he was teaching. At first, it took him some time to make Ameeda fall for him.
After about two months of struggling and toughness, he finally got Ameeda, and they were lovers who everyone in the village looked up to except Ameeda's parents. Ameeda's parents had warned Mark severally to let their daughter go or else, he was going to see the other side of their eyes. He did not listen as he had drowned deeply in total love. Now, Ameeda's parents had taken the issue so seriously to the extent of not allowing Mark to stay any longer.
“I was supposed to wait, but I can't any longer”, Mark said while in tears.
“You showed me the road to love after losing my first love, you showed me the road to love after a very long time in the dark. Now you want to break my heart after giving you my all?” Ameeda asked.
“I'm not going to break your heart as you will always remain in my heart forever.” Mark gazed at Ameeda in a way she couldn't resist from crying loudly.
“I have already run my transfer to another State and so would not change it”, Mark said.
“But who will you be with when you get to where you are going?” Ameeda was unable to hide her mind.
“No one but just you in my heart,” Mark replied.
“You are going forever and now saying the opposite?” Ameeda asked.
“You are the owner of yourself and know how to make your decision, who am I to stop your decision? I will just wish you well.” Ameeda only helped Mark pack his clothes in his bag. Mark drew closer to her with a burning love still in his eyes, but on the other side, the determination to leave for good.
“I have to leave for you to remain at peace with your parents and those in the community. Just understand me and let me go”, Mark whispered.
“Who do you think I'm to stop you after making your decision? I can only bid you farewell”, Ameeda replied.
Mark heads outside with his bag while Ameeda watches him leave just like a dream. It was challenging to cope, but then she tried all she could just to let that become her past. Her parents, on the other hand, wanted her good, and that was the reason they were seriously denying her from Mark.
“I think my parents only wanted the best for me; I can't get angry with them for making my love leave my heart just like a breeze," she said to herself.
As the days turned into night and night into day, day into weeks, and weeks into months, Ameeda started getting herself back as the breeze of Mark had blown too far from her. She began to cope with her normal life.
