Death of a Thousand Swords

in #hive-19491312 days ago

Communism has long ago been abolished in this country. It’s 35 years since the so called revolution of 1989 but somehow our evolution when it comes to infrastructure stopped there.

Most of the buildings, the roads and almost everything that is related to the old infrastructure that was built before 1989 is in a decaying state now, like the building in the photos below.

The town where I took these photos was once one of the most renowned ones in the country for its thermal bath pools and the number of tourists that visited it every year.

It’s a shame to see such a beautiful town with such a long history and so beautiful buildings in this state like the current one. Maybe in the future we will see most of these buildings getting fully restored and this way also restore the old image of the town of Baile Herculane.

Until then, the architecture of these buildings and their majestic size is nothing more but the subject of photography and also a way of remembering our past and also contemplating of a potential better future.

Have a great Sunday and see you all next time.

Gracias.

Look at some really nice pictures my friend

Muchas gracias.

Great shots, my friend. With your photos, you have managed to make that abandoned place look beautiful and interesting, with a kind of charming magic.

Baile Herculane is a place I really want to visit. How much of the architecture is communist ? It looks like some of it might even be Habsburg.

If I ever became seriously wealthy (unlikely....) I'd love to pay for restoration work, although I'd have to learn how to minimise the effect of corruption first to make sure the money was well spent.

No communism remaining. I would advise you to visit the area but don’t bother investing 😁
