Yesterday, I started my crazy challenge in which I want to power up 3172 Hive in 28 days to reach my yearly goal of 72'000 Hive power. Don't worry, my plan is not to write a post every single day to document my progress but I want to show that I'm serious and for that, day 1 matters ;-).
Getting started with the easy things
My plan is to reach 15'000 HBD and 72'000 Hive power by the end of the year. Today, I started to make sure that I don't have more than 15'000 HBD. I started a withdrawal of 100 HBD that will become liquid in around 3 days. Once it is liquid, I plan to swap it for hive and power it up.
The second thing that I did today was exchanging a part of my swap.hive for hive using keychain swap. I managed to power up 300 Hive thanks to that.
Both of these things are the most obvious first steps and it will become more and more difficult to find new sources for my power ups at a later stage.
The organic growth will play a role
The great thing when you have a lot of hive power is that it works for you. The organic growth from staking hive which is about 2.85% and the curation rewards from voting on content is about 9%. That's the average over a year. Between the moment I made the post yesterday and today, 26 hive were added to my stake thanks to these two mechanisms.
Let's say that I roughly earn 25 hive from my stake. This means that I still have to collect 92 hive from other sources every day since I need to grow my stake by about 117 hive daily to reach my goal.
209 Hive above benchmark
I defined a benchmark which increments by 117 hive every day. After one day in the challenge and a total increase of hive power of 326, I'm 209 Hive above the benchmark today. This is a great start but as I said, so far I've taken from easy sources and they will be empty pretty soon.
Date | Hive Power | Difference with previous day | Benchmark | Difference to benchmark |
---|---|---|---|---|
03.12.24 | 68828 | - | 68828 | - |
04.12.24 | 69154 | +326 | 68945 | +209 |
In the coming days, I will pull some more from hive-engine and I also plan to swap my HBD once they are liquid. I will create the next update after that...
Make your own December challenge!
I invite you to do a similar challenge for yourself. If you plan to do it make sure to use the tag #december. I will follow your progress and support you on your journey.
