Many of you must have watched it already. I clearly remember the hype this movie created in 2020 but never bothered to watch it until recently. So adding my 2 cents about the movie...
Starts with the setting of a family living in a shabby basement who struggles to make the ends meet. The little details in those scenes glued me to the screen in such a way that my anticipation powers went for a toss. A great plot development to begin with.
As one family member gets the job in a rich mansion, they create vacancy for others in the same house. A series of domino effects unfold. Now at this point I was intrigued.
The way they all camouflaged themselves, living right under the owners' noses and the saga of events thereafter are a visual treat. As you reach here, an another suspense is awaiting in the basement.
The so-called clever 'Parasite' family is seen trapped in the cycle of lies, which is surely not a great place to be in. From here we can see the story gradually moving towards their doom.
Even a good movie has to be subjectively analyzed. The climax is just not acceptable. If it was something else, I don't know what it could have been like; but this felt like a dagger on the chest. I think many will agree that the girl's fate was not something we were ready for. It was completely out of the blue.
Was it written this way for a reason or to purposefully force a climax into the story?
However, it is possible that, as the title says, 'PARASITE,' so it is an obvious fate of a parasite. This analogy seems very much convincing..
I would say that events in the second half are debatable and the ending feels a bit stretched, but this movie ain't boring and is quite enjoyable given the fun elements and the thrills it presents at regular intervals. Watching it was worth the time.
