yes this is what was always meant by “your hive keys are derived using your seed phrase”
I guess it’s not super clear that the reverse engineered feature of that is that your seed phrase can be plugged in to hive apps that can extract your keys from the phrase (hive keychain being an example)
I have noticed this on the day 1.

Yes its different. InLEO is one of many apps built on top of the HIVE blockchain. When u created an InLEO account, you created a HIVE account by default. Having the account on keychain allows you to log in to any other HIVE apps if you need to.
Think of it as if HIVE being the internet, and INLEO is one website on the internet. Being on INLEO means you are on HIVE, but being on HIVE does not mean you are on INLEO.
Most of HIVE Applications require Posting/Active Keys to work, and the Keychain App helps you provide the keys to these applications securely. One big example is Hive-engine, the platform that you can trade LEO on with other HIVE Tokens: https://hive-engine.com/trade/LEO

That would be really helpful... Maybe they can even add the ability to create Keystore accounts via their app too!
