The 90s were marked by a revolution in pop culture and music, with the emergence of new genres, great artists, and trends that still influence the world today. Personally, I feel much more culturally connected to the 80s and 90s, and I can say that my personal taste was shaped by the artistic expressions that emerged during that time. Especially because I was born in 1993, so I grew up listening to music that still accompanies me in my headphones to this day.
Considering that this week’s theme for the Vibes community competition is the 90s, I had some expectations about hearing some of my favorite songs performed by Hive artists. And I'd like to start this post by talking about a few videos from participants that I’ve had the chance to watch and listen to.

The first video I saw was by @albertocoachbl, singing one of my all-time favorite songs: Black by Pearl Jam. Grunge was one of the most expressive cultural movements of the 90s, bringing us incredible bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam itself. It became something even bigger than just music—a lifestyle that also had a huge impact on fashion. The choice of Black was undoubtedly a great one, as it is a grunge classic that people still listen to repeatedly today. And I must admit I was surprised by how much @albertocoachbl's voice resembles that of the band's lead singer, Eddie Vedder. I’m curious to hear @albertocoachbl singing other songs, and I definitely plan to, as this cover was really impressive.

The second artist I listened to also performed a song from one of my favorite bands: Radiohead! My relationship with this band is interesting because I only started listening to them seriously in 2018, but many of their songs have been part of very important moments in my life. And how can anyone not love Creep, right? Another classic, which @lyon-89 interpreted very well, with a unique singing style and an accent that gave the song a special touch. As someone who studies linguistics, I couldn’t help but notice it, and I find it very interesting and original when artists, even unintentionally, leave traces of their accent in songs sung in a language that is not their native tongue.

Lastly, I’d like to mention some bands I hope to hear in the coming days—bands that I believe not only defined the 90s but continue to impact people's lives in one way or another even today. They are:
Oasis – My favorite album from this band is (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, released in 1995, and this album has three songs that I absolutely love: Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, and Champagne Supernova. It would be amazing to see some covers of these! And if you choose Morning Glory, I highly recommend the slower acoustic version, which sounds absolutely beautiful with a good voice.
Foo Fighters – Although my favorite songs from this band are not necessarily their 90s releases, there are two that I’m passionate about and would love to hear a Hive artist cover: My Hero and Walking After You.
Backstreet Boys – Finally, it would be really fun to see someone perform a song from this band because what would the 90s be without a boyband? (I know, they’d still be amazing, but just to step out of the rock context for a moment, I had to suggest this one, haha.) From this band, two songs that definitely defined the late 90s and early 2000s are As Long As You Love Me and I Want It That Way.
Well, these are my expectations! I hope you enjoyed these suggestions and take them into consideration for covers—not just for this theme but for future performances as well. Choosing one of these songs will definitely help you deliver a great interpretation.

O que espero da 29ª semana da Vibes Web 3 Music competition
Os anos 90 foram marcados por uma revolução na cultura pop e na música, com o surgimento de novos gêneros, grandes artistas e tendências que influenciam o mundo até os dias de hoje. Pessoalmente falando, me identifico muito mais culturalmente com os anos 80 e 90, e posso afirmar que meu gosto pessoal foi moldado pelas expressões artísticas que surgiram nessa época. Principalmente, porque nasci em 1993, então cresci ouvindo músicas que até hoje me acompanham em meus fones de ouvido.
Levando em conta que o tema dessa semana da competição da comunidade Vibes, é os anos 90, criei algumas expectativas em poder ouvir algumas das minhas músicas favoritas interpretadas pelos artistas da Hive. E gostaria de começar esse post, falando sobre alguns vídeos de integrantes que já tive oportunidade de ver e ouvir.
O primeiro vídeo que vi, foi o do @albertocoachbl, cantando uma das minhas músicas favoritas da vida! Black, do Pearl Jam. O Grunge foi um dos movimentos mais expressivos da cultura nos anos 90, que nos trouxe bandas incríveis como Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains e o próprio Pearl Jam. É algo que se tornou maior até do que a própria música, mas um estilo de vida que também teve uma grande representatividade na moda. A escolha de Black, foi sem dúvida, muito assertiva, pois é um clássico do grunge que as pessoas ouvem repetidamente até os dias de hoje. E admito que fiquei surpresa com como a voz do artista @albertocoachbl, lembra a do próprio vocalista da banda, o Eddie Vedder. Fiquei curiosa para ouvir @albertocoachbl cantando outras canções, e com certeza é algo que pretendo fazer, pois seu cover ficou realmente muito legal.

A segundo artista que ouvi, também cantou uma música de uma das minhas bandas favoritas, Radiohead! A minha história com essa banda é interessante, pois só comecei a ouvi-la de fato em 2018, mas muitas de suas músicas fizeram parte de momentos importantíssimos na minha vida. E como não gostar de Creep, né? Outro clássico em que o artista @lyon-89 interpretou muito bem, com um estilo próprio de cantar, e com um sotaque que deu uma característica especial a música. Como uma pessoa que estuda linguística, não tive como não reparar nisso, e acho muito interessante e original quando artistas, ainda que sem querer, deixam o rastro de seu sotaque na música cantada em uma língua que não é sua língua nativa.

Por último, gostaria de falar um pouco de bandas que espero ouvir nos próximos dias, que acredito que marcaram não só os anos 90, mas que vem marcando as vidas das pessoas de uma forma ou de outra até os dias de hoje. São elas:
