Sewing my first Furoshiki /

in #hive-12791116 days ago

Last night, I finally finished sewing my first furoshiki. Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese square cloth used for wrapping and carrying various items.

I had seen a special presser foot called a "rolled hem foot" on Instagram, which makes neat three-fold hems, and I had been wanting to try it for a long time. I decided to order it to give my furoshiki a clean finish.

At first, things didn’t go as smoothly as I hoped, so I spent about an hour practicing with scrap fabric, watching tutorial videos, and reading blog posts online until I figured out my own way of sewing it neatly. I’ll share more about that in another post.

After staying up late and sewing four furoshiki with attached bands, I took them to a flea market organized by my friends today. It was such a joy to see people showing interest in something I made with my own hands.

Since I stayed up late last night, today’s post will be short 😉 I’m happy to be posting again for Needlework Monday after a long time.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

What a beauty! You reminded me of when I had my first furoshiki! learning Japanese wrapping techniques was a great passion! I had never made one, and I love to know about the materials you use for it. I congratulate you and send you a big hug!
