A graceful skimmer hugged a weed stalk in my yard. She didn't flinch when I pointed my camera lens. What a docile female, I thought to myself. She seemed lonely; she hugged the weed stalk with nowhere to lean. Those eyes kept staring at the camera. Her muscular thorax and a few fine feathers showed that she was no weakling. Her transparent wings were no less graceful, spread wide so that they showed interwoven webs like the veins of a dried leaf. "Leave me alone..." she whispered. Yes, it seemed she needed some alone time.
