How thrifty or wasteful are you when it comes to coffee? Do you usually buy fancy coffee at the supermarket or do you just buy whatever is cheapest?

In answer to this week's questions #Spillthebeans I think I am in a balanced point because when it comes to coffee I look for the best price-quality ratio. I like to drink coffee that tastes good and has an excellent price, I try not to get married to a specific brand but to have several alternatives and based on the availability of the product I buy the one that best fits my budget.
I don't think I would sacrifice the taste of a good coffee with the excuse that it is cheap. Nor do I go blindly to buy the most expensive one because the most expensive one is not always the tastiest for my taste. I always have a favourite among my favourite brands and maybe this one is not the cheapest but every time I can I buy it and give myself that little luxury. Other times I make a mix of my favourite brands and the result is exquisite and unique.
I say that I do not marry an exclusive brand because it has happened to me that I used to buy a certain brand and over time the product no longer has the same taste and that is why I have stopped buying it. I don't know what the reason is for companies to neglect the product, perhaps they are confident that they have a captive audience and are looking to make more profit but sacrificing taste. That to me is a big mistake, they shouldn't be making the product any better.
I usually buy my coffee powder in the supermarket but I have also bought the traditional coffee from the Venezuelan plains, roasted in a traditional way, that coffee is unique, with an exquisite flavour and an extraordinary aroma that you will not find in the supermarket.
I don't know if you have had the pleasant experience when a neighbouring house is roasting coffee, the aroma spreads throughout the whole area and if you add spices such as cinnamon or anise, the roasting aroma intensifies even more.
In my hometown, as a child, I used to buy roasted coffee from a lady who sold it in small paper cones. Those images still remain in my memory when my mother used to send me to buy that coffee powder, the taste is really exquisite. What I can't say now is how expensive it is compared to commercial coffees, as I haven't bought that kind of coffee for a long time, because it is rare to find.
Sometimes my mum buys coffee beans or gathers the coffee she harvests from three bushes in her garden and roasts it at home, but it is hard work that requires dedication to get it at its best roasting point and not burnt. That is a special edition, I keep it in a hermetically sealed container and little by little I take it out to mix it with the commercial brands, so I enjoy it for longer because the flavour and aroma prevails. Other times I do it without mixing it and enjoy its aroma and flavour in its maximum expression.
