I don't know if it is something that only happens to me, but when I remember my childhood even though it was not the happiest childhood in the world (in fact it was the opposite) I remember that the whole world was more colorful, the day where I most feel that nostalgia and memories about my childhood and how I saw the world back then are Sundays, I remember that almost always on Sundays we rested at home and I liked to look out the window, I saw the blue sky and the green trees with beautiful reflections of sunlight, sometimes that was my way of escape also on any other day of the week, I liked to be in the garden playing alone, imagining how it would be a “normal” life would be like, appreciating the clouds and looking for shape in them, escaping a little from my reality, I feel a little sad writing this but it is necessary since I used these colors full of life in this drawing, to remember just how I saw everything before, full of color in spite of the circumstances, as I grew up I realized that things don't look the same as before, now everything is a little more gray and I don't mean literally gray, I think it's just my perspective of seeing life as an adult, I guess when we are children we have a different image of everything, our innocence makes us see very nice things and when we grow up many of them lose meaning.
This time it was difficult to capture so many colors in a drawing, I really did the best I could, it has its flaws, but I still liked it a lot because it reminds me a lot of that stage of my life, that's how a drawing despite being colorful has a nostalgic meaning behind it. I hope you like it.
I have always liked this kind of art where they combine a lot of colors and during this last year I have practiced a lot to make my own version of this kind of drawings, this time I wanted to explore a little more and make quite light and saturated tones which is very difficult for me to work, since I usually get along better with dark tones, I made my sketch and began to apply the color, I started by placing a base tone for the skin in pink, I wanted to add a source of light on the left side and then integrate more colors between pinks, blues, yellows and oranges, in a new layer I added more colors and tried to give a better shape to the face, I wanted to place a little lilac and I did it on the left cheek, it made a very interesting contrast, so that the skin had a better texture I mixed all the tones with a chalk texture brush and a high opacity to keep a little texture and give that painting effect, then I painted the clothes with a lilac tone, actually I painted the clothes several times since I didn't know what kind of blouse to draw.
I added lights and shadows to the blouse to give it a better shape, I didn't detail it too much because I felt it would look bad if I kept adding things, for the hair I used a pink tone as a base and then I started to add colors with a diffuse brush and then with a hard brush I started to draw each strand giving it shape, I changed the background to a pastel tone and it occurred to me to add brushstrokes of tones that I used on the skin in the form of a circle, I also wanted to add green, I was looking for an iridescent effect, I added a little light to the eyes, nose and hair, finally I made an image adjustment giving a little more saturation and depth to the dark colors.
