Hola amigos, hoy les traigo la cancion Creep. Esta hermosa balada de rock fue escrita por el vocalista Thom Yorke de la banda Radiohead cuando aún estaba en la universidad. Siempre evitó entrar en muchos detalles sobre la composición, pero, según el guitarrista Jonny Greenwood, la canción fue inspirada por una joven que Yorke conoció en la universidad. Según el músico, Yorke pasó aproximadamente una semana obsesionado con ella, siguiendo sus pasos por el campus universitario. Para sorpresa de todos, un día la joven apareció en un concierto de la banda, aún en los primeros días de su carrera: “Thom se sintió angustiado, porque nunca habían hablado. Y allí estaba ella. Se puso muy nervioso”. La mujer nunca supo que fue la musa inspiradora de la canción, pero eso no importa. La letra comienza como una típica canción de amor juvenil: exalta a la persona amada y la coloca en un pedestal tan alto que el personaje confiesa no ser capaz de acercarse y mirar a sus ojos. Al comparar a la mujer con un ángel, el autor idealiza tanto su objeto de deseo que solo puede considerarse a sí mismo como alguien inferior. Cuantas veces no nos hemos sentido asi nosotros mismos? cuantas veces no idealizamos tanto a una persona que la elevamos hasta el punto de conciderarla divina. Pues la cancion habla exactamente de esto, imposible no identificarse con ella. Espero que mi interpretacion les guste asi como esta pequeña investigacion que hice sobre el tema y el autor.

Hello friends, today I bring you the song Creep. This beautiful rock ballad was written by vocalist Thom Yorke of the band Radiohead when he was still in college. He always avoided going into many details about the composition, but, according to guitarist Jonny Greenwood, the song was inspired by a young woman that Yorke met in college. According to the musician, Yorke spent about a week obsessed with her, following in her footsteps on the university campus. The lyrics begin as a typical youthful love song: it exalts the loved one and places them on a pedestal so high that the character confesses not to be able to approach and look into their eyes. By comparing the woman with an angel, the author idealizes his object of desire so much that he can only consider himself as someone inferior. How many times haven’t we felt like this ourselves? How many times we do not idealize a person so much that we elevate him to the point of considering him divine. Well, the song talks exactly about this, it’s impossible not to identify with it.
