Strolling in Pompeii

in #hive-1637728 days ago

For today I invite you for a walk along Pompeii part three, situated near the Bay of Naples. Pompeii was a bustling Roman city that was buried under ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. had a population of about 10.000 - 20.000 people. The city was striking for its colorful architecture and artwork. Many homes were decorated with intricate frescoes , mosaics and statues. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The weather was also pleasant and in October there were not as many tourists as usual in summer.

The big statues were often religious or commemorative and typically found in public spaced like the forum, temples and large hoses.

Here the civic square, was the central place of public and private life in a Roman city. The most important public buildings were located here, forming the religious, economic and political heart of Pompeii.

Pompeii had two main theaters a large and a small. Here is the small one named Odeon next to the Large theater, built about 80- 75 BCE. Sure with excellent acoustics and many spestators.

If you walk in the ruins of Pompeii and listen very carefully, you can virtually hear the creaking of carriage wheels, you almost feel the lives of those who once thrived here, as if you been transported back in time with the daily rhythms of life thosands of years ago. They finde joy in the simpler aspects of life, as family, gardens, mosaics, theatre, statues and simple meals.
