Ever thought about the cycle of life? We were once babies, now we grown and are now adults.. We keep surviving until eventually we meet our end.
I met Mama Dorcas today and it hit me differently that one day, I too will be very old and maybe experience the pangs of old age, grey hair, weak bones, shaky hands, poor eyesight and all that comes with old age.
As much as we all want to stay young forever, I term it as being delusional because as the years roll by, we are depreciating in vigour and gradually we too will grow weary and old.
Old age is a blessing, it comes with so much wealth of knowledge that is if one was able to amass lots of it, but then, it comes with so much pain and health challenges.
I went visiting Mama Dorcas who has been like my grandma though not biological, Mama Dorcas carried me when I was a baby, bathed me and was a part of my life while I was very young.
I know her to be very strong and active as a child, a no-nonsense woman, very industrious, a disciplinarian and a beauty to behold.
Today, Mama Dorcas is weak, even down with a partial stroke she uses a walking stick to aid mobility, she has a poor eyesight and her skin is already wrinkled. I paused for a moment to reflect.. just like babies, the aged ones too now need so much love, care and attention, they want to be told how much they mean to us, they find it hard to make certain decision and trust our judgment, they depend on us for their daily meal, and the list goes on.
This song really capture the essence of my theme, it reminds us that we won't always remain young.
Whatever our hands find to do now, let's ensure we do it with all our hearts, lets explore now that we have the strength, let's live life to the fullest because a time will come when we will regret not taking the risk, or doing the most and fulfilling our dreams.
While the aged ones were younger, they didn't have the time but had the energy, they were workaholics, trying to make ends meet and carter to us, as they grew older, they now have the time but no energy, life is just in circles.
Here's a reminder that you need go take good care of yourself now, stay healthy, make good friends, eat right, and try to be at peace with yourself and with others for your life is in circles and our youth is gradually fading away and it's inevitable. Cherish every moment and make memories while you can.
