Hello, gardening lovers! I come in September with a lot of anticipation. I planted many things in the previous months in my organic garden.
Usually I combine vegetables that are 3 months old to harvest and vegetables that are about 1 month old and similar to that.
Organic gardening teaches me about the cleanliness of the planting area, as well as the health of the planting medium. If these two things are always well maintained, then we can minimize pest attacks.
I am very grateful that currently pest attacks are not a worrying thing. There are pests that attack but they do not cause damage and death to the plants.
The arrival of pests is normal, but how should we learn to overcome them, especially with the availability of organic ingredients for organic pesticides. If I start to see pest attacks, I usually use onion skin soaking water to overcome the pests.
In this month's garden journal, I invite you to see the harvest of various types of plants in my garden. I'm really excited! Stay tuned ☘️☘️☘️
Water Spinach
These Asian green leafy types are the easiest vegetables to grow, and can also be grown to harvest without fertilizer or pesticides. With a harvest period of only 20 days.
To get the maximum water spinach harvest even without fertilizer, we must use a mixture of soil, rice husks, and manure. And we don't need to do additional fertilization because this vegetable is harvested 20 days after planting.
In fact, we don't need to sow in the seedbed first. We can plant seeds directly in a raised bed or in a container or even in a polybag or sack.
This is the water spinach that I planted in my organic garden and is ready to harvest in twenty days. I will also share this harvest with my neighbors and family.
Mustard Greens
In addition to water spinach, I also plant green vegetables that are a favorite of Indonesians. Mustard greens.
Mustard greens can be harvested starting from 30 days after transplanting. These green vegetables are very tasty when sauteed with garlic, or these vegetables are usually used as a mixture of noodle dishes.
Baby Cucumber
Since I started gardening in January 2024, this year, in September I got the best results for harvesting baby cucumbers compared to previous months.
The key to maximum cucumber harvest is maximum cucumber irrigation. If the weather is hot, I usually water them through a small ditch next to the raised bed.
Here are the many baby cucumber harvests. I chose the baby cucumber type because it tastes sweet. 😊❤️
Shallots
A type of kitchen spice that we can easily grow in our yard or garden is shallots.
The shallot plants in my organic garden have also been harvested. I am very grateful for this harvest!
Cauliflowers
I love so much cauliflowers! September is the second harvest for cauliflowers since I started gardening last January.
In fact, I planted these cauliflower plants not with seeds, but from shoots that grew from previous plants that had been harvested.
How crazy it is! Even the cauliflower harvest this time looks better in sizes. For starters, I only harvested 2 heads of cauliflowers while the others are still waiting to be ready to harvest
Because these cauliflowers just organic way, so we can't expect a super big size. But I like it like this! Just being what it is but truly delicious!
Those are some of my harvests for the beginning of September. More harvesting will coming! Hope you guys have a wonderful time in your garden!
