RETRO OBJECTS

in #hive-10631610 days ago

Hello, good morning to all. Some of the memories that I enjoy the most, are those of seeing near me, many objects that we used in the 70's, 80's and part of the 90's. I refer to these three decades of my life because I got to use them constantly, although I know that before I was born, some of them existed. I make reference to these three decades of my life because I got to use them constantly, although I know that before I was born, some of them existed. At the turn of the millennium, many of these utensils ceased to exist in the market, even, technology had already discontinued the use of a large number of devices to bring more advanced utensils. I made a small compilation of several of these objects, and today I want to share them with you.

The mortar

This utensil, which can be made of wood or clay, was the traditional garlic crusher used by our mothers and grandmothers. I have really been anchored in time and space, because recently I asked for a mortar or garlic grinder, and they showed me two super sophisticated utensils. One resembled a manual lemon squeezer, and the other was a small plastic container, with an intermediate lid full of little holes where the garlic cloves were placed, and another little lid attached to it that crushed the garlic when closed.

Our mortar of the past, so rudimentary, consisted of a hollow container where the garlic cloves were placed, and with the tip of a stick, they were crushed into a paste. I still have one around, I think I have it stored among the old objects, but this one belongs to a friend who has it as an ornament in her kitchen.

The budare

A self-respecting Venezuelan has to have a budare at home, hahahaha, that's what we were always told. This one is made of clay, but in the houses of my family and mine, there was one I think made of iron, because that device was quite heavy and God save us from falling on a foot. What I can assure you is that they were so well cured that the arepas and cachapas were perfect.

Retro telephone

Retro telephones with rotary dialing system are nowadays a relic in homes. You could almost say that it is a museum piece, and those who still own one, have it as an ornament, as well as this old piece that rests on the wall of a farm I visited recently. It is located on the wall of a large living room, and has a cable for connection, although it is not in use.

This telephone model brings back so many memories, because in the residence where I lived during my student days, there was one of these telephones with a lock on it, and one of the girls taught us how to dial through the buttons where the horn or handset rested. The problem was that we had to be very precise when we pressed the buttons because we got the wrong number, hahaha.

The measuring cup

And to close this set of retro utensils, we could not miss the famous measuring cup that our moms had when making cakes. This glass avoided having to use a weight because it already had the portions marked, but as there is always someone who likes to drink water or soda in the most striking glass, it was always taken away from the kitchen and my aunt would make a tremendous mess until her glass was returned to its place.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Happy day to all.
