Being Sneaky May Not Be Enough
Among my favorite rulesets are those that allow melee creatures to attack from any position.
In fact, since this is not usually possible, when this restriction is removed you can give life to very strong and fun combos!
And so I couldn't help but welcome this week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge which, thanks to the Super Sneaky ruleset, allows all melee creatures to attack the last creature in the enemy's line-up.
The Super Sneaky ruleset, in fact, gives all melee creatures the sneak ability, overriding any other abilities such as opportunity, but not reach.
Being able to attack the opponent's backlines is always a great advantage, because that is where the most vulnerable creatures often are.
However, the presence of this ruleset makes every player aware of the danger, and because of this, it is often possible to face lineups specifically designed to counter this ruleset, leading the attackers to crash into impenetrable defenses.
Let's move onto the Battaglia!
Passiamo allora ad analizzare una partita disputata con questa regola di gioco:
With the hope that my opponent will deploy many melee creatures I set up my formation so as to be completely immune to backline attacks: the thorn and shield abilities provide me with great protection ...
... unless my enemy chooses to completely ignore melee cards!
And that sadly is exactly what happens, so part of my strategy turns out to be completely useless: not the best of starts!
However, by doing so, the enemy deployment itself gives up a great advantage, so the first few turns are balanced and it is not clear which formation is going to prevail.
Things start to become - even more sadly for me - clearer when the bloodlust ability of the enemy Ajax Lightfoot starts to trigger over and over again.
The speed of this card becomes too fast compared to that of my creatures, and they start to miss every attack.
Despite a strenuous resistance, all these unsuccessful attacks become increasingly unsustainable, and as my creatures are defeated, my defeat also appears more clearly inevitable.
MVP of the match
The role of MVP goes to Ajax Lightfoot, who turns my strategy against myself with his speed: my cards uselessly attack the enemy's backlines, but at some point they can no longer do any damage.

Taking full advantage of a ruleset therefore proves to be a double-edged sword: the rulesets, in fact, are known by both players, who can thus decide to counter them, use them to their own advantage, or a mix of the two, often making the matches quite different from what one would have expected!

Essere Furtivi Può Non Essere Abbastanza
Tra i miei rulesets preferiti ci sono quelli che consentono alle creature da mischia di poter attaccare da ogni posizione.
Infatti, dato che di solito ciò non è possibile, quando questo limite viene rimosso è possibile dare a vita combinazioni molto forti e divertenti!
E così non ho potuto che accogliere con piacere la Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge di questa settimana che, grazie al ruleset Super Sneaky, consente a tutte le creature corpo a copro di attaccare l'ultima creatura dello schieramento nemico.
Il ruleset Super Sneaky, infatti, conferisce a tutte le creature da mischia l'abilità sneak, sovrascrivendo eventuali altre abilità come opportunity, ma non reach.
Poter attaccare le retrovie avversarie è sempre un gran vantaggio, perchè è lì che spesso si trovano le creature più vulnerabili.
Tuttavia la presenza di questo ruleset rende ogni giocatore consapevole del pericolo e, per questo, è spesso possibile trovarsi di fronte a schieramenti pensati proprio per contrastare questo ruleset, portando gli attaccanti a schiantarsi contro difese impenetrabili.
Spostiamoci sul Campo di Battaglia!
Passiamo allora ad analizzare una partita disputata con questa regola di gioco:
Nella speranza che il mio avversario schieri molte creature corpo a corpo predispongo la mia formazione in modo da essere completamente immune ad attacchi nelle retrovie: le abilità thorn e shield mi assicurano una grande protezione...
... a meno che il mio nemico non scelga di ignorare completamente le carte da mischia!
E questo purtroppo è proprio ciò che accade, per cui parte della mia strategia si rivela completamente inutile: non il migliore degli inizi!
Tuttavia così facendo lo schieramento nemico rinuncia a sua volta ad un grande vantaggio, per cui i primi turni sono bilanciati e non è chiaro quale formazione sia destinata a prevalere.
Le cose cominciano a diventare - purtroppo per me - più chiare quando l'abilità bloodlust di Ajax Lightfoot nemico inizia ad attivarsi più e più volte.
La velocità di questa carta diventa troppo elevata rispetto a quella delle mie creature, che iniziano a mancare ogni attacco.
Nonostante una strenua resistenza, tutti questi attacchi andati a vuoto diventano sempre più insostenibili e, via via che le mie creature vengono sconfitte, anche la mia sconfitta appare sempre più chiaramente inevitabile.
MVP della partita
Il ruolo di MVP spetta ad Ajax Lightfoot, che con la sua velocità rivolta contro me stesso la mia strategia: le mie carte attaccano inutilmente le retrovie nemiche, ma ad un certo punto non riescono ad arrecare più alcun danno.

Sfruttare al meglio un ruleset si rivela perciò un'arma a doppio taglio: i rulesets, infatti, sono noti ad entrambi i giocatori, che possono così decidere di contrastarli, usarli a proprio vantaggio o un misto delle due cose, rendendo le partite spesso ben diverse da come ci si sarebbe aspettati!
