Two Years Running.
If there's something else the pandemic and the lockdowns have brought upon to us (apart from the negative part), it must be our hidden culinary expertise exposed! Lots of people discovered baking, new recipes, food hacks, etc. I, for one, was to concerned about store-bought ready meals and food. Heck, I even baked our own bread.
While for some it became the start of a new hobby or interest, with others even capitalizing on this to start their own food business, I, after two years have given in to my cravings.
That Bee!
There's this bee -- a big bee - that is known to any Filipino. Even babies who have barely started walking and talking know about this bee.
The bee flew overseas and reached many corners of the world. It even found its own hive here in the desert. Going back to seven years ago, we could only satisfy our Yumburger cravings if a colleague from Dubai would come to the Abu Dhabi office. For that, our lovely friend would have to fall in line for a substantial amount of time before getting our order. Until finally, the bee flew and nested in the Capital City too.
When I transferred to a different company, my office was located next to this fast-food restaurant. We literally had lunch here almost every day for three years! The crew already recognized us and we even joke around acting as stakeholders in the branch whenever we came. LOL.
As I said, it's been two years and our cravings were intensified by an ad that suddenly popped up my fb feed. Darn, ads!
As we homeschool, we could not keep our thoughts off a potential chicken joy for lunch. Top that with lot of things to do, I got an excuse to go to their website and place our order.
I am not sure about spicy Chicken Joy in PH, but I'd say that their "spicy" here is reallyyyy spicy in every bite. You'll find the spice not just on the skin and crumbs but on the meaty part as well.
Another thing I miss here is their gravy. There's lots of fast food restaurants here that serve chicken but not many serve chicken with gravy. Colonel doesn't give gravy here. Only ketchup. Ronald? Hmmm, no fried chicken (nor spaghetti). Only burgers.
Speaking of spaghetti, when you have kids, you gotta order 'em some Filipino-style spaghetti to make them feel jolly! Sorry to my Italian friends out here, but sweet, PH-style spaghetti has already won the hearts of many children, mine included.
It doesn't look too saucy here in the photo but my kids said it's great. Hey, at least I was able to take a photo. They finished it in a flash!
Dine Out!
While we do not go and dine it at their restaurants just yet, we were perfectly happy to have lunch outside at our mini garden.
The kids were extremely happy, they finally got to have a jolly meal again after a long while. My almost a teen son is not too keen to be in photos anymore 😔
Sorry, my dear Foodie friends! After many months of absence here in the community, my comeback post is of fast food. There's a lot on my plate recently and there are days that cravings or not, I just would rather call a restaurant for food delivery than lose my sanity.
Hopefully the next time I pop here would be with a proper foodie post. XD
