Minimalism Starting From Skincare Routine

This is my first content in this community. Really, I'm nervous, I hope you like it. I will start telling you about how I can learn minimalism gradually over the past year. I will start with a skincare routine which is a basic for women today. I think all women like this routine and do it every day.

First, the reason I live a minimalist life in my skincare routine is because I have found the best way for my skin. Not everyone can do it because there are many considerations. For example, skin that is sensitive to certain ingredients. But, in fact, I have skin that is sensitive to chemicals, especially SLS.

The second is that I keep my kidneys healthy. I once said that I have diabetes for the past 3 years. I will be very sensitive to kidney function, because unlike other people who have a metabolism that is still very well maintained. So, I minimize anything happening to my organs, especially my kidneys.

Until one day I found a journal and posts from several people about the use of soap nuts as the main ingredient in making soap, for bathing or for washing things/clothes. Then, I thought about making it myself. And yes, I am compatible with using soap nuts which I have finally used for the past 1 year.

Soap nuts, have anti-bacterial properties that are actually similar to soap in general. Uniquely, soap nuts will produce abundant foam if processed properly. It is not like soap, but, it is quite moisturizing and also nourishes my skin, especially for the face. I never use facial soap that will make my skin dry after use, even if I use soap nuts, then my face does not need to be moisturized if it is not needed.

Now, I don't need to differentiate between facial soap body soap and shampoo. I don't need to understand a lot of skincare anymore, just using 1 ingredient, soap nuts.

Making soap nuts soap is quite simple, boil it and extract it to be more brown like I did. There is a drawback to soap nuts, it has no aroma, even tends to be similar to the aroma of egg white. But, if you add essential oil, the aroma will be fragrant and beat commercial soap.

The rest of the soap nuts can also be used as compost, I tend to use it 2 times and then throw it on top of plants that I think need compost. It's been a year, and it is very good for the growth of some of my plants that I use as compost. There is no waste left, even very useful for other creatures.

I haven't bought soap for a long time, at least I don't produce shampoo or body wash bottles anymore. Sometimes, I feel like I can save the world from waste, even though I just don't use it. Although soap nuts look very trivial with their shape similar to dates, I have been using them mindfully for the past year. Getting soap nuts is also easy, I have only used 3 kg in the past year. In addition to reducing waste, I also reduce my monthly budget by 10-15 dollars a month for soap and shampoo alone.

I also don't pollute water and nature with the soap and shampoo that I use every day, I am even more confident to take a shower 3-4 times a day because the soap nuts I use will not pollute the wastewater around the river.

Again, this awareness makes me believe that the steps we take come back to ourselves. It is easier for me to learn and seek knowledge again about soap nuts. In fact, I am mentally better about what I use every day.

It is not easy to change, but believe me, this will be very good for us and the people around us.

See you the next time hive friends!

A complicated skincare routine is so overdone these days. Once you find what works for you, you should stick with it and avoid the other excesses. Glad you have this going for you, dear. Welcome to the Community.🥰

I just found out that sop nut can be made into shampoo and body wash. So far I only knew that this fruit is for making laundry soap. Thank you for sharing this knowledge-enhancing post.

That's superb of you.
It's been a very long time I saw or read about using a locally produced soap for bathing especially for a young lady.

This is interesting 😍

I'm a big skincare person, so this really resonates with me. I think everyone would be better served avoiding SLS and most chemicals in commercial skincare. So you're definitely on to something, I'd say.

Your article is very inspiring, this is why we need to read a lot to get more knowledge, just like how you discovered about the soap. I did enjoy reading, keep sharing great content friend.

Wow, this is my first time of coming across soap nuts. And from the process you have written, it is not so hard to make at all. It resemble the process of making a tea, except it's soap.

Nice one.
