My beloved country continues to thrive in running its economy to shambles, further plunging its people deeper into the survival ring, taking their time one policy after another to make sure there is no way out. Along with everything else that's skyrocketing, the cost of basic self care products is up there too. Dove bar soap that retailed at 700 Naira last year is now about 2000 Naira. Nivea roll on that sold at 900 Naira last year is now over 2000 Naira. Don't let me tell you about toothpaste. Now, this is the most basic it can get when it comes to body care. Yet, some people struggle to afford these.
This has posed a challenge to so many people's hygiene and ability to care for themselves. Now, it gets worse for those who like to do a little extra by having a routine that involves multiple products and what not. At this rate, affordable skincare has become a tale, soon to be forgotten by the ones who told it the most with ease.
I am sick and tired of everyone complaining about the same thing over and over. You order a ride, the driver won't shut up about the cost and scarcity of fuel. You take a public transport and the passengers are going at it. You get to the gym and everyone is complaining about the increase of gym membership. Don't even dare go to the market.
People have to make adjustments to accommodate their new reality by cutting cost and forgoing things like deodorants or body sprays. You can't blame anyone for the choices they make to survive at this time. Desperate times.
PS: This message does not endorse doing wicked things like harming others for your own survival. Though it can be argued that BO is in fact a form of harassment but, we'll let that go for today.
Thank you for stopping by. ❤️
