Hello everyone, this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will show you a battle in the modern ranked league using one of the powerful legendary dragon units, the Chaos Dragon with an attack power of 4.

First, let's talk a little bit about the Chaos Dragon, the only unit currently that has a mana cost of 14, making it a unique card. It is a legendary unit from the chaos set.

Like many dragon units, Chaos Dragon have the Flying ability, which allows it a 25% chance to evade melee and ranged attacks from non-flying units.

Chaos Dragon's attacks are random due to its Scattershot ability, this is very good for destroying the enemy backline units, especially with its next ability.

At level 2, it gains the Blast ability, which allows it to deal 50% damage to units adjacent to the unit this card attacks, causing chaos.

And at level 3, it gains the Blind ability, which grants a debuff to enemy melee and ranged units, giving them a 15% chance to miss their attacks. This works as long as Chaos Dragon is alive.

Units with the Snare ability are very good against the Chaos Dragon, as they have 100% accuracy when attacking flying units and remove the flying ability.

Since the Chaos Dragon is a magic unit, units with the ability Silence (reduces enemies' magic attack by 1, can stack) and Void (takes 50% less damage from magic attacks) are great against it.

SILENCE , VOID

Djinn Oshannus, Void Dragon and Rage are the 3 units that, in my opinion, are very good against Chaos Dragon's atacks, and it's not just because they have the Void ability.

Both Djinn Oshannus and Void Dragon have the phase ability, so they can also dodge magic attacks as if they were melee and ranged attacks. And both have a speed of 5, while Chaos Dragon only has 3, which means less chance to land an attack on them.

The Rage dragon does not have the Phase ability, but it does have the Life Leech ability, which means that every time Rage attacks, it will increase its health and max health by 50% of the damage it deals. Thus, the more it attacks, the more health it gains as the battle progresses, making it nearly impossible for the Chaos Dragon to defeat it alone.

BATTLE

Without further ado, let's get to the battle where, due to the Keep Your Distance ruleset, melee units are prohibited from entering the battlefield. Also, only monsters with an even mana cost can be summoned. Additionally, all summoners will not grant any abilities or stats to units due to the Silenced Summoners ruleset.

For this battle, I decided to choose Quix the Devious, reducing the attack and speed of enemy units by 1. I will play with earth and dragon element units.

In the first position is Grimbardun Smith, one of the most used rebellion units at the moment due to his defensive abilities. Smith has immunity to magic debuffs and cripple, for example he cannot be poisoned. Also, he takes 50% less damage from all types of attacks thanks to his Shield and Void abilities. Finally, repairs 2 points of armor to an ally each round.

The protagonist of the battle, Chaos Dragon in the second position, ready to kill some units.

In the third position, Goblin Psychic who will heal my frontline unit each round for a third of its max health. Also, it will reduce the magic attack of enemies by 1. Additionally, Goblin's attacks have a 50% chance to apply Affliction (cannot be healed), and a 100% to apply Dispel if it succesfully hits (unit lose its magic buffs such as stats gained from the martyr effect).

In the next position, Queen Mycelia, which can heal a backline unit each round. Queen also gives 2 armor to all allies, and reduce the armor of enemies by 2. Additionally, she causes the thorns, magic reflect and return fire damage to deal 1 more due to her Amplify ability.

Finally, in the fifth position, the ranged unit Elanor Bravefoot, who is only at level 1, but is still very useful since it costs 0 mana.

In the first round, some units were damaged, but none were defeated.

In the second round, my Elanor Bravefoot is defeated by Sergeant Grauzral and deals 2 damage to the Queen.

In the third round, the Chaos Dragon attacks the enemy Anasth Soothsayer, and defeats Gallicus due to him taking 2 points of damage from the Dragon's blast ability.

In the fourth round, Sergeant Grauzral destroys another unit, this time Queen Mycelia being the victim.

In the fifth round, Chaos Dragon defeats Sergeant Grauzral thanks to the Blast ability when attacking enemy Merdhampir.

In the sixth round no unit was defeated. In the seventh round, Chaos Dragon once again defeats another enemy, Merdhampir is destroyed.

In the eighth round, Chaos Dragon performs a double kill by defeating Anasth Soothsayer and Venari Crystalsmith.

From the ninth to the eleventh round, enemy Wave Brood manages to survive the attacks of my units. But it is defeated in the twelfth round by Goblin Psychic, ending the battle.

In this battle, Chaos Dragon was key in winning the battle by destroying 5 enemy units, this was mainly due to its Blast ability which shows how good this ability can be. Also, my Goblin Psychic was a really useful support unit here, as if it weren't for it my Grimbardun Smith wouldn't have been able to be healed and could have been destroyed in the early rounds, leaving my Chaos Dragon exposed to enemy attacks.

Summoning Sergeant Grauzral was a really unexpected play from my opponent since Sergeant is rarely used in ranked battles, I don't even have that card at level 1, so I was quite surprised when I saw it at max level. Due to her Opportunity ability, she was able to attack my unit with the lowest health, thus managing to defeat two of my units. She almost defeats my Goblin, which would put me at a disadvantage, but unfortunately for the opponent, my Chaos Dragon defeats her before that. In the end, I managed to win the battle with three of my units alive.

That's all for now guys, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link. See you on the battlefield!
