Hello everyone, Merry Christmas!
This time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will be showing you an exciting battle using the powerful Commander Slade.
First, let's talk a little bit about Commander Slade, who is a water melee unit and is very strong even if he is not at max level. For a 10 mana creature, it has really great stats and has 4 abilities, it's a rare unit but it could have been a legendary unit without any problem.
Slade is one of the 2 units in the game that has the Enfeeble ability, which reduces the melee attack power of the enemy he attacks by -1, it can stack. He also has a +25% chance to evade melee or ranged attacks thanks to his Dodge ability, and due to his Backfire ability, the enemy unit will take 2 physical damage after a failed attack. Additionally, thanks to his Reflection Shield ability, he will not take any damage from the thorns, corrosive ward or blast effect.
I don't play this card as much as I would like for one simple reason, I don't have it at max level yet. Currently, I have Slade at level 6, which means he has 4 power melee attack and no Backfire ability, still great, but not as great compared to level 8.
In this battle, Eternal Tofu was available but I wanted to defeat it, so I used Commander Slade, who is great against it, because he can't take damage from the thorns.
I used Cryptic as my summoner, a very powerful summoner that reduces the speed of enemy units by 1 and curses them with the Blind ability. In the first position, the great Commander Slade, after him Tide Biter and Venator Kinjo, both like Slade have the Reflection Shield, great against thorns and the Blast ruleset that is active. In the fourth position, Torrent Fiend, since it doesn't cost any mana, why not. And in the last position, Pelacor Bandit who will attack the enemy unit in the backline instead of the first, a very fast unit.
I decide to choose Cryptic's left-tactic to give Commander Slade and Tide Biter the Retaliate and Enfeeble abilities. They now have a 50% chance to counterattack after an enemy with a melee attack attacks them, this is very good since all the enemies are melee units. And they will reduce the enemy unit's melee attack power after they make a succesful attack.
In the first round, the enemy Pelacor Bandit gets a double kill by defeating my Bandit and Torrent Fiend.
In the second round, the enemy Pelacor Bandit gets another kill, this time on my Tide Biter. Now only my Commander Slade and Venator Kinjo remain against four enemies. After the enemy Cruel Sethropod attacks Slade, his retaliate ability triggers performing an attack against it, destroying Cruel and Venka.
In the third round, after Captain Fellblade attacks Slade with her melee attack, his retaliate ability triggers again, attacking her. Slade still has his own attack, so with it he destroys Captain Fellblade and consequently the enemy Pelacor Bandit is also defeated due to the Blast ruleset.
In the last and fourth round, enemy Torrent Fiend was alone, so Commander Slide after a simple attack ended the battle by defeating it.
Full Battle This time I tought the opponent would use Eternal Tofu, that's why I used three units with the Reflection Shield ability that counters the thorns. I wasn't expecting Captain Fellblade at all, if the enemy had protected her better with other units instead of Venka, I would have lost due to her magic damage. Thanks to the Retaliate ability provided by Cryptic, Slade was able to defeat the enemy units quickly, proving what he is capable of even at level 6.
