Gymnopus iocephalus | 27 01 2025 | North Acèh Regency, Acèh, Indonesia |
After last night's rain, my hopes were high—usually, small mushrooms would appear in damp places.
Sure enough, while walking along a rotten log covered in fresh green moss, my eyes fell on something that immediately caught my attention. A small mushroom with a soft purple cap stood tall on a log, like a tiny umbrella that had just bloomed. I immediately squatted down and got closer to observe more clearly.
This mushroom is Gymnopus iocephalus, a type of mushroom that is quite rare for me to find in this area. The hood appears slightly furry, with a light purple color that fades towards the edges. The stem is slender, somewhat transparent, and looks fragile, but remains strong enough to support the hood.
I took several photos from different angles, trying to capture the unique texture and color. When you look at the bottom of the hood, you can see subtle folds that make it even more attractive. The view of the green moss around it also adds a magical impression to this mushroom, like a view from a mini world hidden in the forest.
NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
