At first, I thought it was just an ordinary insect that often passed by. But when I looked closer (with the help of a macro lens of course), it turned out to be Lilioceris cheni, a small insect with distinctive bright colors.

I found it on the leaves of a water plant that grew wild on the edge of a small ditch near the rice fields. This insect was busy chewing on leaves, perhaps its favorite menu. If you look at it in more detail, its body is shiny and has a simple but beautiful shape. It turns out, Lilioceris cheni is known as an insect that eats water hyacinth leaves. So, you could say it helps maintain the balance of this wild plant in nature.

For about 15 minutes I watched its movements. There was one interesting moment when it stopped eating and seemed to "stare" at the camera, perhaps disturbed by my presence. But don't worry, I kept my distance so as not to disturb its activities.
