One Last Sunrise Kisses the 2024 Sky
As the last day of 2024 unfolds .. I find myself pausing to reflect on the cusp of a new year and the endless possibilities it could hold. This morning, I rose early to greet the final sunrise of the year. Despite the biting cold, the dawn brought a quiet joy that warmed me from within.
Huxley and I ventured out to the frost-covered dock .. The crunch of ice beneath our steps the only sound in the stillness. The sunrise wasn’t the most vibrant display I’ve witnessed this year—there were no fiery reds or dramatic purples to paint the sky. Instead, it was a subtle composition of soft pinks and gentle orange-yellow hues, a reminder that beauty doesn’t always need to shout to be felt. Sometimes, a whisper is enough to bring a smile to the face and warmth to the soul.
We stood there together .. Huxley nestled in my jacket, his small frame shivering slightly. As the sun crept higher, its light spread across the lake, turning the skies from dark indigo to a serene blue. The first rays touched our faces, and I bent down to kiss Huxley on the head. He responded with a lick on my nose, a small, sweet gesture that carried a world of meaning. In that moment, everything made sense. The new year’s outlook is bright, filled with growth, love, and the simple joys that Huxley will continue to bring to our lives in 2025.
With that heartening thought .. We turned back toward the house, drawn by the promise of warmth and a steaming cup of coffee waiting for me. Tonight, we’ll celebrate the turning of the year with close friends, as has become tradition—laughter, shared stories, and perhaps a toast to what’s to come. What about you? Do you have any special plans to ring in the New Year? Perhaps a cherished tradition or a quiet evening to reflect?
Whatever your plans, remember this: anything is possible in 2025. As the clock strikes midnight, may your heart be open to the boundless opportunities ahead. From Huxley and me, we wish you a joyous New Year’s Eve and a bright start to the year ahead.
Cheers to making it a good one!
Silver Linings
Looking back on the past year, one of the silver linings, quite literally, has been the addition to my silver stack. I’ve accumulated a decent amount, some purchased for fun and others gifted by my parents. Each piece has its own story and meaning, adding to the joy of collecting. Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to work toward two goals: completing my Silver Quarter collection and finishing my Silver Peace Dollar collection. Can I do it? Only time will tell, but I’ll be eager to see where my stack stands this time next year!
