Gift giving is one of the many things that bring me immense joy. I like to receive gifts from people and loved ones but I like to give gifts more because I know that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Plus, I like to see the smiles on the faces of those whom I give gifts to. It is always so heart-warming to see their happy faces when they receive the gifts.
There are many occasions that warrant gift giving. Such occasions include birthdays, anniversaries, wedding ceremonies, Valentine's day , Christmas, * new year* and many more. These occasions are worth celebrating and what is a celebration without gifts 😁?
Last year's gifting?
Last year, a grateful parent gifted me a brand new pair of shoes. She was very happy that I tutored her daughter and helped her scale through primary school effortlessly.
Sincerely, that gift was surprising to me because I never expected such. The most I ever got were cash gifts of either two thousand naira or five thousand naira maximum as a thank you but this gift given to me by this particular parent was worth fifteen thousand naira. It was a beautiful gift and I loved it.
Months later,a colleague I had helped to get a better high paying gigalso surprised me with a gift. He got me a black wrist watch. Again, I really appreciated the gift a lot. I have got a flair for wrist watches, hence my liking for that gift a lot.
Even in December, my younger brother sent me a gift box with food items worth over twenty thousand naira. I didn't stress myself in getting foodstuffs from the market during Christmas because his gift covered me at that time.
Would I be gifting someone this year?
Yes, of course and definitely. Last year, I gave gifts to many of my family, friends and loved ones. The gifts ranged from perfumes, fruit wine and jewelry and since I also received lots of gifts as well, I will definitely be giving more gifts this year.
I have so many special people I want to get gifts for this year especially on their birthdays. From my siblings to my dad, to my daughte, my pastors and my friends. The list is very long but I am not afraid because I know that it is the thought behind the gifts that matters and not just the size of the gift.
Because I can easily read people and get an understanding of their preferences, I usually do not struggle to give gifts. It comes naturally to me. Among the many people I will be giving gifts to, I can already pinpoint mentally what each one would want. I know who would like to have more jewellery, I also know who would want to have airpods as a gift. I definitely know that my dad will like a new ankara material to see his agbada (native Western attire).
Just making this list alone right now is already giving me so much joy. I cannot wait to start handing them their gifts and watch their faces light up with happiness.
Now, I won't be a vehicle conductor who conducts others to their destination and then sleeps under a bridge, no way. I will also get myself a gift to show myself appreciation and value because I matter too. I am very intentional about my self care this year. Getting myself a gift will put a smile on my face, which would in turn maintain my youthful look and keep me going strong.
So guys, are you on my list? You need to find out so that you don't miss your gift😁
Thank you all for reading... Shalom
