From Childhood Accidents to Lifelong Lessons: My First Aid Story

in #hive-1538502 months ago

As we grow up, we experience many things. Some things are useful to us in our bad times and some things in our good times, but whatever we get to learn, it is useful for us in some way or the other, tell me, is it for us or someone else? So we should keep learning something or the other in our life, no matter what it is, we should not sit idle because it is said that an idle mind is the devil's workshop and this is true. Nowadays, learning new things is not a big deal, if you want to know anything, then you can go to the internet and learn anything, yes anything, whether it is cooking skills or any coding skills or anything, nowadays it has become straightforward to get an education and there are so many mediums nowadays that you do not need to stay at one place, you can gain knowledge from different places and this is also necessary.

We need all to know basic things like cooking and other things which are very important because life is full of mysteries, you never know what will happen the next moment, you should be prepared for every situation. Many people live alone since childhood, so they are used to everything. But people who live with their family are less used to all these things, so I would suggest that you should keep upgrading your skills from time to time, whether you are working or a student, whenever you are free, learn new things like cooking and other things which are very important and help your family members in household work, this will only help you because no one is going to stay with you for life, so you should learn things yourself and become a self-reliant person.

Although, you might have faced many accidents from childhood till today, but there are some that we remember for the rest of our lives and we are unable to forget them even if we don't want to. This incident is from the time when I was in class 3 and my uncle used to pick me up and drop me to school on his cycle. The wind was such that when we were returning from school, I stuck my foot in the front tyre of the cycle due to which the cycle got unbalanced and we all fell and my foot got stuck in the tyre. Because of that, I had a lot of trouble walking. It was a good thing that we had reached near home and we reached home immediately. My leg was seriously injured and it was a good thing that I was able to walk. At home, my uncle took me in his lap and took me home but there was not much damage. He immediately took out the first aid kit and first cleaned my foot with it and then applied some Dettol and a bandage and bandaged my foot.

That was my first accident which I remember. I had probably not even seen a first aid kit before that. Most first aid kits contain a Dettol spray, pain killer, cotton bandage and doctor tape. Maybe that was also in the box. I don't remember it very well because many years have passed. Now it must have been 22 years. There are many things in life that we learn and maybe that day was that for me. Then whenever I used to get a little hurt, I used to run and take out the biscuits and bandage my leg myself. Seeing this, my uncle and aunt used to make fun of me often and then told people about what happened to me. Now when I think about it, I feel like laughing a lot.

We don't know what we do in childhood and because we are innocent and we have a lot of desire to know things or maybe we want to get attention at that time, I don't know whatever it is. As we grow up, we learn a lot of things and it is very important that we implement the things that we are taught from time to time and you should keep updating them. Whenever I get time, I check the medicines and other things kept in the first aid kit to see if they have expired or if anything is damaged, I keep replacing them because when there is an emergency, it is necessary to have that thing at that time. Now, the first aid kit that we have contains a bundle of rags, a bandage, scissors, Doctor tape, pain killers, Dettol and bandages. What is there in your first aid box?

That's one ordinary, but warmest to the heart story. I personally felt it touches me as I have my similar "first" first aid incident when I was a kid running downhill losing control, scraping my left knee on a zinc plate at my father's buddy's farm house. Blood was spraying out fast and I started crying and screaming. Dad's friend's daughter came to the rescue, carrying a full size first aid box. Gloves on, cutting my pants.... Oh my... Sista be gentle... I'm a virgin yo... Probably the best anesthetic I've received in my life... Applying pressure on my thigh to limit blood flow, cleaning up the wounds, applying betadine, then finally a huge bandage on the cut wound. 🤣 I'm not exactly sure if I felt the crush more that time, but now I remember that first aid box she uses to save my life 😆

he hee thank you so much sir for stopping by and sharing your story.

Probably the best anesthetic I've received in my life... Applying pressure on my thigh to limit blood flow,

ha haa I can feel ya sir, are you still in touch 😅

Yeap. Our dads are real close buddies. My dad passed away last November, her dad passed away in June 2 weeks ago, the month my dad's birthday 😂 so the dads are actually having a good time together I guess.

We haven't seen each other for more than 20 years after she got married in Indonesia 😀

oh, sorry hear about that sir.
that is not good, you should at least meet her once 😄
