It’s been quite an eventful holiday, I have to say. The holiday went on for longer than any of us expected. However, it was as if there was a unanimous decision by every student to just give themselves some extra weeks of holidays.
Previously, we know for sure that there were people who always resumed quickly. They were always sure to turn up on the very first day of resumption. They did it without fail, they were ready to work their butt off, in their hunt for good grades. Well, all that is now in the past because we don’t even seem to have such students anymore.
To an extent, it begins to look like even the lecturers are of the same opinions as we the students. This is because nothing at all seems to be happening in school. The school is like a wasteland and the number of students there is scanty. No one wants to come back just yet.
It got bad enough that the school management had to issue a memo, not once, but twice! Yeah, the first memo went mostly unnoticed by everyone. They told us that school had resumed and we were urged to resume classes immediately. However, for some reason, no one paid any attention to that memo. I’m sure that many people didn’t even get to see the memo because it was not shared with the kind of fervor our memos are usually shared.
About two weeks later, when the management saw that students were still yet to return, they issued another memo, warning us that refusal to return to lectures would not make them postpone the second-semester exams. They urged us to return or there would be dire consequences.
That memo finally got through and students started coming back, but it was in trickles. Many people were going to school but they were not getting lectures. Nothing much was happening and soon, some people were regretting coming back at that point. However, things have begun to change because activities are beginning to pick up finally. At least I know a few people who have gotten lectures this week. Even though I’m not one of them.
A few days ago, we were finally able to get our course allocation for the final semester we’ll ever face in this school. Our timetable is being prepared as I write this, and I know that before the weekend, it’ll be ready. With only six courses to offer, it just might be a great semester indeed. In my department, lectures begin unfailingly next week.
As for me, I’ve decided that I’ve rested enough. The holiday was fun and good while it lasted, but I have to finish what brought me here to begin with. This is the last lap of the journey, and I believe I’m ready to go at it with everything that I’ve got.
I know that we’ve missed weeks of learning and we would most likely be rushed, but I’m sure we’ll be able to cope. With just six courses, we’ll be able to make it work. Besides, it’s not like the second-semester exams are next month or the month after, for that matter. There is still enough time to learn everything we have to learn for the semester and then begin the final battle.
And like this, my final days as a student are about to begin.
