The image of the Jolly Roger is iconic. This symbol was made famous from its use by Samuel Bellamy. While Bellamy likely had one of the shortest pirate careers, it didn't take him long to gain widespread fame. (Source)
Naturally, when I saw Niue was making a limited mintage coin of it, I knew I had to have it!
Obverse
On the obverse, we have the Seal of Niue. I love the waving lines making up the background. It gives the design a sense of animation, like a flag waving in the wind. Around the border are small sea waves, for a nice added touch.
Reverse
On the reverse, we have the infamous Jolly Roger! The design isn't overly complex, but with the repeated waving lines and sea wave border, it makes for a beautiful piece!
