I try not to buy my sons toys that often. It's not because I don't love them or they don't deserve it. They each get to spend time with both sets of their grandparents each week. Naturally, they end up coming home with some sort of toy, whether it came from a fast food kid's meal somewhere or a store. This time, I made an exception.
In preparation for Christmas, our church is working to fill boxes for kids in Peru and here in my state. We took the boys with us to help us pick out things for the two kids' boxes we chose (one boy aged 4-6 and a second boy aged 5-10). We ended up getting a couple of shirts, a beanie, some crayons, a notepad, a hackeysack, some Hot Wheels cars, etc. The cool thing is the earnings from some of my posts and dividends from Hive-Engine tokens paid for it all.
We promised the boys if they were good, they could pick out a toy of their own. They were very well-behaved, so we made our way down the Star Wars aisle, and my oldest son found a Mandalorian mask with a Nerf-style wrist blaster he just had to have.
I initially balked at the $30 price tag, but again, we don't buy them toys every trip to the store, and they behaved well. When his older brother made his choice, naturally, my youngest son had to have one, too.
I have to admit, the blaster design is pretty cool.
You put a dart in the gray tube and then push the tube in until it clicks. If you don't put a dart in the tube, there's a mechanism that prevents you from charging it back. Neat. Once you load it and pull it back, the weapon is charged and ready to fire. Then, simply aim and press the red button to fire. The boys had a lot of fun running around blasting each other.
My youngest son needed some help loading his, so I managed to catch a dart right between the eyes. Fortunately, it fires out fast but doesn't hit hard. If your kid(s) is/are into Star Wars and like Nerf guns, I'd highly recommend these for hours of fun! This is the way. 😉
