I walked into the class on the first day of school and the first response I got when I wanted to sit was someone is there
oh well I left there to find another chair, I didn't mind being the first time and I thought probably the person on the seat went out to buy something or do something, it was days later I realize that this was a trend among the freshers.

What they do is, some of them came to school early and kept seats for their friends who were still at home, the class was in a hall. It is quite hard for backseaters to hear what the lecturer says, so most serious students want to sit at the front. Still, then we have some people that will put a bag on a seat and tell people that someone is already there and it is an hour later you will see the person they claimed to be there strolling into the class.... What the heck! The day I figured it out was the day I stopped listening to the bullshit... Like I paid school fees and came to school early so I could sit in the front only for someone to keep the seat for a latecomer, who does that!
Well I stopped listening to the bullshit and whenever I enter the class and see an open space to sit, I will sit down there and if anyone tells me someone is already there, I just ignore the person and the trash talk, it is very common among freshers, most of my coursemate that do this are now relaxed and no longer keep the seat for their friends in ND2, Even when my coursemate I became close friends with tells me to keep a seat for him, I tell them I can't do that and deprive someone that came early the right to the front seat, so come early or sit at the back, not keeping a seat for anyone, it doesn't sound right... If you just gained admission into uni or poly you will experience something like this and I tell you, do not take that bullshit, I find it so annoying as fuck!

Another thing I found annoying is how people have started monetizing their position as a course rep, in my school the lecturers sell their textbooks to us and they give it to the course rep to do the trade on their behalf... This is what the course rep does, let say the textbook is 2000 Naira, they will add 100 Naira to the money and call it charges, they won't accept cash from you just so you can pay the 100 Naira, now Imagine a class of 160 students paying 100 Naira charges, that is #16 000, isn't this ridiculous? 16 000 Naira as charges when you will only send the money to the lecturer at once and it might even be charged free if you are sending to the same bank! All the course reps mandate this so most people want to become course reps now because of this money.
We blame the government and people that are in a higher position for corruption, meanwhile, we will do worse if we find ourselves in such a position too, and this is what I do say humans will keep being humans and corruption is everywhere, it is not only the government that ruins the economy, everyone contributed to this, unfortunately, the good ones want to stay neutral and don't want to have anything to do with it... If I were a course rep, I wouldn't collect a dime as charges because It is free to send to those lecturers but I am not interested in being a course rep.
As an aspiring student, take note of these two annoying things I mentioned when you gain admission, you can't avoid the second one, you have to pay the charges even if you do not like it but the first one, it is in your control, if they chose violence, give it to them back to back.
