We see that when we are in any religion that the Holy Spirit is not there, we won't be able to overcome the power of evil. We cannot overcome evil by ourselves. No one can overcome evil by himself.
When Paul was in Judaism, he was persecuting the church of God thinking that he was doing service for God. He didn't know that the church of God was the true religion which God had brought through our Lord Jesus Christ. Until the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him and he was converted. From that time, Apostle Paul was able to succeed in his ambition and became one of the greatest apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is the only one who can help a man to overcome the power of evil. We cannot change ourselves by ourselves. We need the Holy Spirit to transform us. No man can do the will of God all by himself. The flesh will always oppose the purpose of God. We cannot stop our flesh without the Holy Spirit. The power that will stop us from doing what is evil is from the Holy Spirit.
