Hebrews 1:1-2 (KJV) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Our ancestors did not know God. They were living in darkness because they believed and followed evil and deceptive manifestations from evil spirits. They practiced incantations and divinations. They did not know God.
There were several unholy and inhuman practices and sacrifices our forefathers used to offer which were not according to God's Word. They sacrifice their children for idols which is what God hates. I remember in Nigeria that we have heard that they were times when the birth of twins was an abomination. They killed the babies to appease their idols. What a terrible practice!
God hates idolatry. God hates idol worship. God hates divination and enchantment. He was not pleased with the children of Israel when they practiced such. He even said they should not suffer a witch to live. So following the footsteps of our forefathers in idolatry will not please God.
Matthew 17:5 (KJV) While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
We are to believe in Jesus Christ, the king Son of God. God said we should listen to Him. We should not ignore the Word of God through the Bible which is what Jesus taught us. Everything that we need to know about God and our destiny is in Jesus. Let us believe in Him.
