Hello, dear Hivers!

Sharing with you another family adventure, this time in Sumlang Lake - the place where the magnificent Mayon volcano perfectly reflects.

During our visit to my province, we attempted to have a 360-degree trip around the famous volcano. Though we didn't succeed due to bad weather, we were able to visit some of the best spots to view its beauty.

One of the highlights of our trip is our stopover at Sumlang Lake. When I planned this whole trip, I prayed for only two things: safe travel and great weather. Without these two, we would be traveling for nothing. Places I bookmarked need clear weather to enjoy the pure beauty of nature unobstructed. Thank goodness the good heavens listened to my prayers. We were fortunate enough to arrive at the lake, where clear skies greeted us. The perfect cone-shaped volcano and its reflection on the lake are very much visible.

The lake had an interesting history before it became the famous destination that it is right now. It used to be an abandoned lake filled with water hyacinth, untended, and no one was interested until the community started a clean-up drive on the lake. Not known to everyone, the 14-hectare lake would perfectly reflect the majestic mountain. That's where locals and tourists started to arrive, and it started to circulate on social media. That's how I found out about it too—through the internet, and now it's one of the top tourist spots in the province of Albay.

Aside from the unobstructed view of the volcano, Sumlang Lake also offers picturesque spots, perfect for photo shoots. It also became a perfect spot for prenup pictorials and the like. They made well-designed cottages near the lakes for guests to rest in and take photos in.

My family gamely posed for photos at every spot we passed. Until we reached the deck of the lake, where they offered some water activities like kayaking, tri-boating, and the balsa, or a small raft that will take you to the middle of the lake, it could fit more or less ten people.

My husband and kids availed of tri-boating, and while they were into it, we spent our time checking the food kiosk while waiting for them to finish with their water activity. I'm sure they will be exhausted after a half hour of pedaling in the water.

After they got off the boat, I took the chance to try to take decent family photos with my boys, but with a toddler, it is always a challenge. lol I can't recall how many times we tried, but this is the best we got.

We stayed for a while, enjoying the beauty of nature and the serenity of the place.

Before we left the place, I snapped this final picture. This image shows a stunning work of nature, but this beauty is also a real treat because this volcano is an active one. It has dents on its previously known perfect cone after its major eruption years ago, and we hope it will not happen again in the near future.
