To begin, I have to say I really liked this #weekend-engagement topics. Since some of them were not too specific, they gave authors plenty of space to recreate good stories...
Talking about things I enjoy could take hours for me (and maybe that's what the community admin wanted us to do) but to not make you read all that sh!t I'll simplify it on a less tough story. I wasn't sure of making this post since I didn't take any selfie that day, and I only made photos of the people around me... Anyways...
Past Saturday I went to see the concert of a cuban-mexican singer. I wasn't really interested on that, but since I am a member of the Association of artists that invited her, I had to be present.
This concert wasn't something that we had on our programmation, but suddenly someone just called and Leiden (the singer) and some of her friends were able to visit the city of Santiago de Cuba. Then I had to make a design to promote that activity (I hate to make last-hour designs) when I didn't even know who was she.
When I got there the concert had already started. As expected, not too many pepole were ther because, sadly, cultural activities in Santiago are given very little importance. On the other hand, I must admit that I was shocked. I didn't have much expectations on her performance, but she proved to be a complete artist on stage. She gave lyrics, face, outfit, attitude and everything!!! She ATE. I was completely mesmerized.
And then she invited a friend of her who is a poet that makes tenths, a typical poetry style in Cuba, but that he learned in Mexico. He asked people to say random words and right after he invented rhymed poems with them. It was amazing! I adore poetry and I know how hard is to make rhymed poems, so the guy, Martin Perilla, deserved my respect.
The whole afternoon was pretty much like that, and it kept myself feeling in the clouds. I often dislike live performances because I have really exigent ears, and I will notice the most minimal mistake. Anyways, Leiden made me speechless. One of the things I enjoy the most is the good vocal work on singers, even though when they don't show a huge register. I'm a lover of music, when its well performed... Maybe I'm not that important, but Leiden won a new fan that day.
I realized that what I actually like is to participate in things that make me feel alive! Sometimes those activities disappoint me and sometimes they motivate me. I enjoy living, in the whole sense of the word, and I think we came here to have a huge range of emotional experience. Its important to feel, good things, bad things... everything! So I try to receive with open arms all the surprises life has to give (even though I might feel sceptical at the very beginning).
Hope you enjoyed this post. I also hope to come back the next week when new weekend engagement topics are delivered (but this is not a promise). Bye!
