Last reading at the Caribbean Festival

To close my participation during the Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba, I was invited to a poetry reading as part of the Meeting of Poets for the World "Jesus Cos Causse". On Sunday, July 7th, I was in the Courtyard of the Caguayo Foundation ready to share my art.

I was really nervous because I had never participated in a reading at that place. Although I did not know them all, I was sure that many important poets from all over the country were there. I carried on my shoulders a great responsibility.

Before the event started, the staff gave everyone present a mojito that I think helped us all to relax the tensions. I also took the opportunity to admire the beauty of the place, because different architectural styles were mixed there in perfect harmony with nature and that caught my attention a lot.

After some troubadours opened the reading with their songs, it was my turn to read. Despite the anxiety, I took a few deep breaths and read slowly so that those who listened to me would be able to feel the same way as I did the things I had written. I read four poems in total, and the one that the public liked the most was the last one, one that is dedicated to the Cuban actress Fatima Patterson. I received the applause of León Estrada and Waldo Leyva, two great poets who were listening to me attentively and who came to congratulate me personally. Since I had the poems on my cell phone, I couldn't ask anyone to take pictures of me, but I think someone took care of capturing those moments.

I was very happy because Margarita Morlot and Ericka Castellanos were also invited, two great poets who stand out in my city and with whom I have the pleasure of maintaining friendship. At the end of the night the three of us took several photos together.

There was another troubadour who sang at the end of the interventions and between him and those who sang at the beginning they agreed to interpret other works. The atmosphere was very lively until, little by little, the courtyard of the Caguayo Foundation was becoming deserted.

I know that I am not yet what can be called a "great poet", that I am still young and I have a lot to study and to learn. Anyway, being allowed to share my evolution in each of these events makes me feel happy.

That's all for today's post. The photos used were taken with my phone, an Oukitel C31.

Until next time!
