40k Passive SPS Milestone

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about hitting a milestone with my staked SPS amount I've got in Splinterlands!

40k Passive SPS Milestone

Splinterlands was one of the only things on the Hive blockchain that I was doing for a while. I started playing it back when it started, but really got into it in 2019 somewhere around. I've picked up quite a decent stack of cards over the years, but lately I've stopped playing entirely and shifted instead over to passive rentals and all that to keep it going while I take my hiatus.

I certainly enjoyed my time playing Splinterlands; it's a fun game and has a lot of great and challenging elements. What I didn't like as time went on was the amount of time it took someone to keep up with the game, or if you were lacking on time, you could just throw a bunch of money at it. I could not afford the latter, so I opted for the former and spent a fair amount of time playing the game, and even threw quite a few Hive that I was earning at it.

Overall I don't have any complaints or qualms about the time and money I spent on the game, but it got to the point that I was spending way too much time on it and ended up cutting into my time on Hive itself, causing some other issues. I decided that it was best if I went passive instead of active, and just started to rent all my stuff out. This has been the direction I've gone for the last 9 months or so, I think is when I started. Since then, some of the things have certainly slowed down and one of those is my staked SPS balance, sadly!

When SPS first started, the price was pretty good and I took profits off it and sold most of my SPS that I was getting in the airdrop. That allowed me to reinvest money back into my account, getting some stake back that I was using to buy cards and stuff for the various releases. This was a great thing to do, because I think I sold about 4-5k SPS in total which really isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it did set me back in terms of where my SPS would be if I kept that. I don't regret selling it at all, because like spending the money to buy cards, you have to give and take. I certainly took back out what I put in, so I went for it!

Since that time, I've been staking my SPS every time I get into the game. I know that I could certainly earn more SPS if I was playing the game routinely but I'm not, so I just wait to stake the stuff that I've got. I don't even really know how the SPS APR Is even calculated anymore to be honest hahaha. I think it was based on cards at one point but there have been so many changes to the game, I don't even know at this point.

I still believe in the game, and have a decent valuation in the deck that I've got so I continue to stake what I've got coming in and may eventually get back into the game if I can find the time. I've also been keeping an eye on the war chest things and the wagons, buying up wagons when I get the Vouchers and keeping my cards relatively up to date. I've been purchasing some cards to increase the stake of my wagons to hopefully generate more of the airdrops but I think one more wagon for me and I'll be done. They better fucking use those wagons for the next set released damn it! I will be pissed if I wasted 250 Vouchers and I have to spend another few hundred on the next damn set when it comes out lol.

Keeping those coals slowly burning!

How about you, have you gone passive for Splinterlands or are you still active? Do you enjoy playing the game still? Let me know in the comments!

As for me, I’ve not gone passive on SPS or active on Splinterlands
My offline job doesn’t really give me much time to attend to other things

Yeah the game is fun but it requires quite a bit of work sadly.

Ah this sounds a little similar to me too!

I started out grinding a lot at the start in my first 2 years - literally doing battles every single days to clock all the reward chests. As time progresses, there were just too many changes, and it was hard to keep up, and real life got busy too, and since I have built up a decent card collection, I chose to earn rentals occasionally.

There were times when SPS/Splinterlands weren't doing that well... Being unable to follow all the updates, I also sold a portion of SPS for prudence. I think my average sale price was about USD 0.04.

These days, I am more active in brawls. I still enjoy battling, but I treat Splinterlands purely as a hobby and the dollars and cents don't matter. It's less stressful that way. I used to play in Wild, but am undecided now with this Wild pass thing because I am just a casual player. Might just restart from Modern instead.

Yeah eventually I'll get back into it to participate in brawls and stuff. I just saw the wild pass thing the other day and found it odd, I guess a way to deter bots from making purely profit. We do need bots in the game though to make it so somebody never had to wait for a match.

I do plan on getting back in, just a matter of when!

Same hehe, all the best!

It's probably a good thing that you decided to go passive. I won't completely say it's bad you sold some SPS. If I hold sold some SPS in the early days and kept that in HBD I might have bought back now. Congratulations to you, I'd say it's not a bad decision

Yeah I was looking the other day at buying some SPS and my 18 hive I’ve got on hive engine nets me 500 SPS, I didn’t love it but I’m going to see if I can hold out a little longer before getting more.

Just like this recent power up of 1.6k, I powered up the hive I got from selling SPS! Eventually I’ll feel comfortable not putting in as much hive to my hive power, I just don’t know when that would be haha
