Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos of a mixture of animal photos I've taken over the years!

Animal Mixture Monochrome Monday
Taking pictures of animals has been one of the things that I've really enjoyed for a long time. I still remember vividly getting my first real "smart" phone many years ago. I was really excited for the great camera it provided compared to the cheap cameras that came with the older phones. Yes I'm old enough to remember that and much more before that! Lol.
I went out back near my parents house and ended up taking a picture.. only to have the flash go on and I ended up scaring an owl! I've never seen an owl before in my life, and the first day of having a phone I scared one and ended up getting some cool photos of it in the meantime! That was a really long time ago.. and sadly those photos are LONG gone at this point. I don't even think I still have that phone, but I will have to look deeper around my house to figure that out.
Fast forward many years, and I've gotten to take some pretty good photos of the various animals that we've encountered. Some of them on the end of a fishing line, while others just observing from a distance. I wanted to make this weeks themed topic animal photos in black and white!
The zoo we go to often has certainly some of my favorite animals. This past year, we took the really good camera that's got a nice lens on it so I can zoom in pretty well for some close-up photos of the fellas and it really turned out well! I got some killer photos, and a lot of them I've shared frequently so I wasn't going to go with my prized ones from that day such as the flamingo.
I wanted to go with this monkey dude here. I like how he is looking DIRECTLY at the camera, which is a little tricky to get the animals to do for various reasons. The ones where they do look directly at the camera though are extra special because it almost feels like they are looking through you more than anything. Pretty wild stuff!
I've taken a large amount of photos of the avian kind. One of the farms that we spend a lot of time at has a really sizable flock! They've got a few hundred birds and the bird enclosure is really close so that you can get up and personal with them. I've always had a really fun time with the chickens - they tend to do some really funny stuff such as in this photo here! They are all huddled together like they are dropping some dope rap verses or something hahaha.
I love the way they look at you in these types of photos. They are certainly incredibly curious and smart, so they are coming up to you in hopes that you'll give them food or at least figure out what you are doing there. When I am pointing the camera at them, they are trying to figure out if I am worth their time, going to give them some food or just doing something that won't help them and they can get back to foraging the ground for morsels. For these ladies it was just a photo or two!
