Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to flip some pictures from the recent garden journal, into black and white!

Plants Monochrome Monday

The garden we've got has definitely been an enjoyable project for me and the little man. I think it's great to teach him that we need to make sure to take care of the place that we live at, which also means growing some of our own food!

Gardens are definitely such a crucial part of living as an adult and a family. They provide, even a small amount, of food for the family. We couldn't live off the garden that we've got, but we could certainly expand it if need be and grow a lot more things than we do now. It just takes some more dirt, fertilizer and plants. With it being pretty much halfway through the summer at this point, that is not a likely situation but we may expand it a little bit in the coming days!

I love getting into the garden and taking some photos though! We've had a decent little bit of rain every few days, which makes it so that the plants get plenty of sunlight and food from the environment around us when they need it, but they also get a substantial watering when it rains versus when we water it.

As the summer has gone on, we've gone from watering it once a day in the lunch hour, to watering it twice a day, to now watering it three times a day! These fellas are THIRSTY lol. I don't blame them or mind, because they are in pots after all, and that means they can't just grow really long roots and go down for the water they need. We've also had some pretty hot weather lately, which is pretty enjoyable overall instead of rainy or cloudy as we have had in recent memory for other summers. This summer has been quite nice in that regard!

I think that the photos of the plants, turned into black and white, with water dripping from the leaves is freaking awesome! Lol. I really like the dripping look of the pictures and the black and white nature really makes the picture stand out. I also enjoyed playing around with the different black and white algorithms on these. I have 5 of them available and most pictures I will do one that I enjoy but for whatever reason, I decided to experiment a little with these ones and tried the different ones!

With the pictures in this post, I tried three of the different algorithms, and they adjust the lighting and shading of the colors a little bit on each. I might spend a little more time on the algorithms and make adjustments to them to see if I can come up with my own little template to play around with. I'm not too good at manipulating the settings in this software, as it is very complicated but I might give it a try to do some experimentation!

I’ve always been taught to take care of my vicinity right from when I was little and right now, I can’t just tend my environment looking absurd because I’m used to making it clean

Yeah it's important to take care of the area around us!

Thanks I appreciate it!

You're welcome

Your original photos of nature that you use on your blog is one of the best I've seen on Hive. It's one of the main reasons I click before I even see the post title.

Hey thanks man I really appreciate that! I love taking the pictures and funny enough - that gigantic Leo whale (I forget his name at the moment) challenged me years ago to not use stock photos anymore because they were boring and I took it to heart and started to use my own photos for everything no matter what. There’s a lot of recycles sure but at this point I’ve got several hundred of them to choose from so it gets a lot of fun when I get to see what photos I’m feeling for a post! Often times, adding the photos to a post that’s already written as I do sometimes, will inspire me to write a few more lines. Fun stuff!

Happy you stopped by man :D

Yeah, I think I remember the Leo whale. I was also challenged some how back then to use my own pictures, and for over 3 years I haven't downloaded a single picture from the internet.

Onealfa is the Leo whale, I just looked him up to remember the name lol

Yeah, it's been years since I've used a stock photo as well!
