Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to talk about how our media consumption affects how our mood fluctuates throughout the day.
The Fluctuations
We all have fluctuations in every part of our day. Sometimes we have it more than we do others!
I've been having some recent fluctuations in my day to day stuff. Some of it is challenging but other parts of it are pretty good because they are unique and challenging. I think the important thing is to be able to adapt and take things as they happen, because that is simply just life.
If you are an adult in the world we live in, one of the things that is pretty consistent is that nothing is consistent. It feels like an oxymoron doesn't it? Lol it does to me! That can be incredibly challenging for some people to manage because naturally, we like to have consistency and stability. There are a lot of benefits to that but that is just not the world that we live in today.
The technology of the world is absolutely remarkable and one of the best ways in which we can learn and do things to the environment around us. If we are allowed to, instead of being massively manipulated, we can really master the environment, our biology and make incredibly advancements to so many things that would benefit us.
Sadly, with the politicking of the world and the people who are at the top of the food chain, they are more entertained by manipulation and control than they are progress or benefits to other people. It's some pretty insidious stuff at the end of the day, because it's quite wrong. The challenging part as well is that people don't realize it that they are just simply of a different mental wavelength than we, the majority, are. We like to help out people around us, we get enjoyment out of work and others. They get enjoyment out of manipulation, power, fear and control. That is a much different mental style and we can't fathom those styles.
With the insane amount of variability in the day to day for us, we have to remember that we need to keep the positivity going as much as we can. It's not to say that we are naïve but that we are aware of the bullshit, but don't let it control us.
This goes into the fluctuations piece. We fluctuate from doom to hope so frequently and this can have a pretty significant impact on our day to day flow and operations.
We see something that is appalling or scary such as something that is trying to be pushed forward that would screw us long-term. Then we see something that is quite remarkable such as a family who pulled through a horrific event. These are all well understood by the manipulators and it feeds into the algorithms that we are exposed to when we use various forms of social media.
I think one of the most important factors is to recognize this level of manipulation and it has less of an effect on us day to day. It won't eliminate it entirely, because I am certainly well aware of it but I do get hit by the doom to glee cycles.
I think one of the good things is a lot more people may be realizing this now, and that is why these jerks are ramping up the pressure to make it worse. If they were winning this battle, they wouldn't need to go so hard on it. I wonder if that's just me coping with the thought that we are fucked long-term LOL. I don't think so though! We are a resilient species, and fucking smart. We definitely have the ability to guide these things forward, it might just take some twists and turns.
