When @mcsamm and I decided to make a difference with the Hive Empowers Communities Project, we knew this journey was ultimately going to be challenging; however, the vision of providing clean water to those most in need kept us going. Over time, this has changed from a very ambitious idea into life-changing reality for so many people in several communities in Ghana. Today, 17 boreholes have been constructed to provide clean, safe water for communities where access to clean water has always been a big challenge.
Initially it was a long and tiresome travel to secluded areas that were not so easy to reach, and there were times we had to travel on dilapidated roads. Every trip we made required some sort of sacrifice, an example was leaving behind the comforts of our homes to places that was so hard to reach and to return. Each village we reachd out was different and with different challenges, one of which was how to gain the confidence of various community leaders plus technical challenges in digging a borehole in areas where rainfall was scanty. Despite the challenges, we are glad we could come this far in making the mission of providing clean water a success.
In all of the project works, our greatest moment of joy was when we finish and do a lunch ceremony. The laughter of the people as they gather to fill up their buckets with water for the first time, was something that reminded us how our efforts were truly worthwhile. Finishing each of the project was truly happy moments, those moments of joy really inspired us and filled us with pride of being part of the blockchain that is impacting lives in the real world.
As we reflect on the progress we’ve made in 2024, we see a year marked by growth and transformation. 17 boreholes is indeed a great achievement and It's inspsiring how about 10,000 people are now able to have access to clean, something that is promoting improved health and reduced disease. We are delighted to annouce about closing the year with yet another borehole, which is the 18th. We have already put plans in place for work to begin soon.
We are happy to reach out to another village with the power of Hive, to provide clean water and to promote the mission of clean water accessible to all. In all, this good works has illustrated quite well that the Hive blockchain is more than just a technology and it's a great tool that can drive real-world impact. The power of such a decentralized community as Hive has allowed us to address key issues and create lasting change. We are looking forward to yet another milestone soon and we believe it's possible to achieve much more in years to ahead.
