I had planned to write about something entirely different today, maybe a book review, but an incident early this morning changed my mind. This frustrating and upsetting event has made it difficult to focus on anything else.
So, what happened? Early this morning, as my husband was about to take our son to school, he discovered a nasty dent above the fuel tank at the back of his car. There were also some scratches and what appeared to be cat furs on the fuel flap.
Upon further inspection, he noticed some blood stains on our neighbor's car.
And also blood stains on the asphalt right next to our car. What was happening here? What was going on here? Did someone get injured and try to get help?
It remained a mystery until we noticed a broken pet collar inside the rim of our neighbor's car, along with a small broken pink bell, likely from the collar. Finally, everything started to make sense. Someone's cat must have fallen from one of the higher floors and hit our car. Judging by the blood stains and the broken collar, the fall was likely from a significant height. The impact must have been so severe that the cat died upon hitting the car and the ground. Cats might have nine lives, but a fall from such a great height would have been fatal.
Poor kitty.
I don't know exactly which floor the cat fell from, but it must have been from one of the higher floors. There are 15 floors in total.
I understand that accidents happen, and pets can fall. It was unfortunate that this cat fell onto our car. I feel sorry for the poor kitty, but what's frustrating is that the owner didn’t come forward to acknowledge the damage or offer to repair the dent.
When we asked the night guards, they hadn’t noticed anything unusual, and the cat's owner quietly retrieved the poor kitty without anyone noticing.
After my husband left for work this morning, one of the guards found the dead kitty behind the electrical substation. It seems the owner, unsure of how to dispose of the body, left it there, likely hoping no one would discover it.
I urged my husband to file an official complaint with the building management. While we might never receive compensation from the cat's owner, I hope the management will reinforce the rule that no pets are allowed in any of the units. This was one of the rules in our tenancy agreement, and I believe it applies to everyone living here. Anyone who violates this rule should face appropriate penalties.
I love cats and have nothing against pet owners, but if you choose to keep a pet, please be responsible and ensure your pets don’t cause problems for your neighbors.
That's it for now. If you read this far, thank you. I appreciate it so much! Kindly give me a follow if you like my content. I mostly write about making art, life musing, and our mundane yet charming family life here in Klang Valley, Malaysia.
