Hello Friends,
Source
In Splinterlands, there are few summoners which are like you almost feel like you can't win this battle just because of presence of that particular summoner.
We have Yodin Zaku, the moment you see it's there on the other side of the lineup, you lose hope immediately.
Likewise, we have some other summoners like recent Tofu, Conqueror Jacek to name a few.
I recently had One such battle where, Conqueror Jacek was on the opponent side and we had a battle with target practice as One of the rule sets along with healed out and although the former rule set is there, as soon as you see Conqueror Jacek as your opponent summoner, you will understand that, those low MANA cost monsters will be always at risk inspite of target practice rule set.
So, I almost lost hope of winning this battle, but somehow, the Conqueror Jacek summoned monsters were unable to get thru the monsters I used.
The reason I understood is, the flying ability on One (Pelacor Arbalest) and couple of others with phase ability with absence of a magic monster from opponent.
But, on top of all these, the existence of Drybone Barbarian as my front monster which accounted for atleast 4 out of the 6 monsters used by opponent!!!!
So, let me get you thru that battle with details as below:
Battle and Lineup:

So, as I mentioned, the rule sets for this battle were target practice and healed out and it had a MANA cap of 31 and I am nowadays so obsessed with Drybone Barbarian and Captain Katie combination that, I use those more often these days and this battle also had those 2 along with few others as I mention below:
Lineup:
1. Drybone Barbarian:
If at all there is One monster who threatens melee attack monsters these days, it's the Drybone Barbarian with it's enrage, retaliate abilities and it's 6 melee attack gets to 8 when it's enraged!!! So, obviously it's my choice for front position.
2. Pelacor Conjurer:
Since the target practice rule set was there, I thought of using this in Second position as all ranged and magic monsters will target this, but opponent had a different plan with usage of Conqueror Jacek as his summoner which enables scatter ability.
3. Chaos Agent:
Another monster positioned for target practice rule set although this wasn't hit for that rule set but got removed for the scattered shot thanks to Conqueror Jacek summoner.
4. Captain Katie:
My main monster for the target practice along with Pelacor Arbalest for this battle, it did perform it's role by attacking the ranged attack monsters opponent had used, but it was outshined by Drybone Barbarian in this battle!!!
5. Pelacor Arbalest:
The Second monster in my lineup for target practice rule set, it did help Drybone Barbarian and Captain Katie in getting rid of those opponent's monsters quickly.
6. Soul Fiend:
Lastly, I used this NOT for any sneak attack, but to preserve it from getting attacked early as it has swift ability to increase the speed of the monsters I used.
While the fear of Conqueror Jacek was always there, but soon I got to know that I am gonna win this battle as the opponent's usage of 4 ranged attack monsters ploy was rightful and justifiable with target practice ruleset, but the ability of scattershot from Conqueror Jacek didn't help here as the monsters by opponent kept of attacking random monsters and being ranged attack monsters, opponent's monsters when moved to front position, didn't have the attack and Drybone Barbarian accounted for 4 monsters and that was the highlight of this battle with target practice ruleset!!!!
While Drybone Barbarian was super here, Captain Katie and Pelacor Arbalest accounted for 1 monster each and inability of opponent's monsters to pierce Pelacor Arbalest means, those were always trying to catch up and that didn't help and I had a rather easy win (I think so inspite of only 3 monsters left for me) as Drybone Barbarian remained unconquered.
The underline from this battle is that, when we use Conqueror Jacek, we need to have more magic attack monsters and it's better to avoid Conqueror Jacek in a target practice battle as the scattershot ability it induces, doesn't help much as we ought to have high health monsters in a 30+ MANA cost battle as scattershot always makes it target different monsters in each attack and other side, with target practice on, it's always the Second monster in the lineup which is under attack.
Here I am sharing few screenshots from this battle.
That was a nice battle as for as I understand, but a great learning for me as well to use some flying and phase ability monsters and more importantly, I need to trust my Drybone Barbarian more in such battles :)
Thanks for going thru this and I would like to know what you felt about this battle.
Thanks and Have a good day :)
