I didn't have much of an opinion yesterday so I skipped making a preview as I don't want to flood my blog with unneeded posts. I did end up making 2 low conviction bets which I probably shouldn't have as both lost erasing 65% of the profit made in the European games. This week feels like one where every bet is a gamble based on hope something plays out a certain way instead of an educated guess that makes sense to take the risk on. 3 matches today and most action will likely be in-game...
Kv Mechelen vs Charleroi
Mechelen actually played an ok match last week even though a draw would have been a more fair result with their goalkeeper De Wolf as the best player. They started out defensively on the counter but slowly became the better team in the first half. The week before at home they played a match with low risk against Anderlecht ending up losing by 1-3 after they got tired near the end. This so far made them have 2 matches at home that beat the total over line and 3 matches away that all went under. It kind of continued the pattern of last season. I'm not overly impressed by Mechelen and think their coach is the best part of the team performing miracles with the quality they have available. Charleroi is 4th in the league now after 3 wins and 2 losses. The main thing I took away from them is that they were willing to go forward from the start in the away match against stvv which also brought they a great result. At the same time, they also played a boring home match against AA Gent and played defensively away against Union. Against Kortrijk last week, they also took the initiative but also crawled back after taking the lead. So I see them as a team who are willing to play against 'weak' teams while crawling back against good teams. The question mainly is how they see Mechelen in this away match which I don't really have the answer on. Mechelen has been an over corners team never ending below 9 and an average of 14.5 in their 2 home matches which they both won. I have no clue how this will play out,
No Pre-Game Bets
Beerschot vs Dender
This is the match between 2 promoted teams who are expected to have a real fight to stay in the league. Dender who were ready at the start of the season after a longer preparation period managed to capitalize on that already taking 5 points but they also suffered their first loss last week at home against Club Brugge. They play high pressing and a counter-style play. Beerschot is last with just 1 point and 4 losses in a row. The match last week against Standard away was quite boring and they narrowly lost it by 1-0. However, the week before against Genk they played very offensively with risk in a very open match. They were however 1-3 behind at half time and it was Genk who allowed them back in the match in the 2nd half. All this results in them having the highest xg against at 2.06 on average in all matches combined and 2.67 in the last 3. So they are not really a team that I trust at the moment. It makes sense for Dender to be the favorite based on what they showed so far but at the same time it remains a home match. This is another match where I have no clue what really to expect.

OH Leuven vs Standard
What strikes me most with OHL is that they kind of lack belief and see themselves as a relegation candidate while they should have the quality to actually be the revelation this season. They are safe in the midfield with no loss yet but 4 draws. They did lose their best defender with Pletinckx but that didn't really made a major difference in the match against Westerlo last week. Often they start matches crawled back opening up a bit more in the 2nd half. Standard took their first win last week at home against Beerschot with a 1-0 score needing a red card for the opponent first and a penalty later to make the 1-0. They overall lack quality in the team which they try to make up for with a good mentality. Scoring remains their biggest problem with just 0.74xg on average each match while defensively they manage quite good at just 1.24xg goals against on average. The under remains my main angle on these teams especially in the first half and I took a tiny 0.125 unit bet on
1H Under 1 @ 1.966. I see OHL as the better team at home but it's hard to really take a stab at them at a -0.5 line.
