Underrated Weird Al Hits from Even Worse

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today let's go into another Three Tune Tuesday post.

As always, thanks to @ablaze for making this series. Lots of people participate in it! Follow the tags to find a ton of good music recommendation.

Today I need a laugh. Normally that might involve looking up old Letterman interviews on Youtube or Monty Python clips, but when I'm also in the mood for music, it usually involves Weird Al. Of course we all know Weird Al. He is without a doubt the most successful comedy singer ever, and even when we compare him to singers in general, he is still one of the most successful of all time.

I thought we'd look at three of his lesser known hits for this post. All of you know Fat and White and Nerdy, but how about these older and less common ones? I'm going to limit myself to his Even Worse album. Even Worse was probably his biggest hit, the one where he started to cross over from this another Dr Demento freak appealing to nerds to someone that everyone started listening to. MTV played his Fat music video just about more than any thing else. Even so, as popular as that song was, I think a lot of his other songs from that album have been passed over. That in mind, let's look at three of the better ones.

Weird Al - Alimony

One of his underrated songs, this is a hilarious parody of Billy Idol's Mony Mony. There are plenty of jokes here to keep you smiling as you listen. I think besides Fat, this may be the strongest song on the album. Really good stuff here.

Weird Al - I Think I'm a Clone Now

A parody of Tiffany's I Think We're Alone Now, this is a geeky look at suspecting you might be a clone. I listened to this album when it came out, so I would have only been ten. I had no idea what a clone was, though I kind of got half of an idea from the lyrics, but I laughed alone anyway.

Velvet Elvis

This one isn't a parody of any specific song, but it is borrowing a lot of style from The Police. Like the previous songs, I didn't get the jokes when I was a kid, but enjoyed the song anyway. Now that I get the jokes, I enjoy it even more!

Oh my gosh, it has been so long since I hear some of this stuff. Thanks for sharing. I laughed my tail off.

Glad you enjoyed!

Brilliant! Getting the joke or the next layer joke way later...happened to me with countless Weird Al songs. The guy has always been on another level. Nice post I'm laughing my ass off at Velvet Elvis so have to say bye 🤣😂

Oh my god the guitar solo just hit oh my sides I'm dying ☠️🤣

hehe great stuff, eh? Glad you could enjoy! His catalog is so large at this point—I should dive in to more older ones in future posts.

I have a guy I know who has seen Weird Al several times live and he says that he puts on a quite amazing show. I've never seen him and I honestly don't know a ton of his songs. He seems like a really clever fellow though.

I saw him once in concert when I was at college. Honestly, the best concert I've ever gone to. Silly music aside, he is all in with his performance, switching out costumes between each song, getting in to character if it's a parody song, talking with the audience. Then afterwards he stays and signs autographs, talks to people, smiles. He's an amazing guy.

It's always nice when artists are on the fringe like that. I think it allows them to appreciate the fans and why they are there a little more.

Very cool
