Welcome to my blog 🤗
It's a beautiful morning - good morning to everyone. Hope you had a great night sleep? Well, think about it before saying "Yes" like everyone will probably rush to say. In our world today getting a good sleep is not often prioritised. This may be the reason so many health and mental challenges are on the rise every day. The quality of life that most people live today is very poor and it could be easily linked to their quality of sleep. Hence, it is vital to develop a night time routine that can help you improve the quality of your sleep thereby hitting the ground running refreshed and energised in the morning.
The benefits of quality sleep in the overall well-being of a person can not be overemphasised. Flashback to those days when you can't function effectively at work or when your seem to forget so many things that you have scheduled for the day/week. Yes, this may be as a result of not getting enough sleep. Quality sleep allows your body to be fully relaxed, thereby enhacing the cognitive functioning of your system. If you want to perform to your best ensure you prioritise getting a good night sleep. It works like magic.
Getting quality sleeping time is also key to maintaining a stable emotional and mental health. A person that doesn't sleep well will likely be faced with imbalanced emotional and mental well-being. Often times, when the lack of quality sleep is prolonged from days to weeks to months, it can lead to anxiety, depression and the likes. Therefore, a good quality sleep is higly recommended to reduce stress and above all the overall well-being of a person.
The next question that comes to mind is: How do I get a quality night rest? Well, there are some steps to follow in order to create a routine that improve your sleep. However, it is important to do what works best for you. No matter the type of work you do, no matter the time you get back home after the day's work, you should ensure you craft out a plan that suits your lifestyle and stick to it. For instance, develop the habit of retiring to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time for a period of time. This will programme your body system to have a quality sleeping time.
More importantly, try to limit your exposure to blue lights at least one hour before you go to bed. It will be difficult to get a quality sleep in the night if you're fond of pressing your phone, watching TV before going to bed. Most people that complain of lack of quality sleep watch movies or play games on the bed before they dose off - it will be difficult to sleep well. There are better and healthier alternatives to engage yourself before going to bed such as reading books.
Also, you can create the routine of taking a warm shower every night before going to bed. This can relax your muscles, reduce your stress level and of course wash away all the dirts that your body have gathered throughout the day. Brushing your teeth is also a way to tell your body that you're getting ready to go to bed (apart from the hygienic part of it). Also, you can also create a skin care routine as well. This will make it easier for your body to activate the sleep mode.
The reason most persons are unable to get quality sleep is because their mind is filled with so many things. They are anxious and worried about how to start doing the things or even find it hard to pinpoint the things they want to do. The best way to handle this situation is to create a to-do list of the activities or tasks you want to do the next day. Doing this will reduce the burden in your heart because you already have a direction and hence enabling you to enjoy your night rest.
Some other things you can incorporate in to your night time routine is to eat light food, avoid excessive drinking of alcohol, taking short naps during the day, etc.
