„Es gibt noch keine Anzeichen für einen Ausbruch. Es könnte also noch weitere Seitwärtsbewegung geben, ehe es im Oktober zum Ausbruch kommt. Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass wir im Q4 einen Ausbruch bekommen, aber davor wahrscheinlich noch nicht.“
Während die älteste und nach Marktkapitalisierung größte Kryptowährung vor einem Jahr noch etwa 26.000 US-Dollar wert war, kostete ein Bitcoin zum Jahresstart etwa 43.000 US-Dollar und inzwischen ist ein Coin etwa 62.500 US-Dollar wert (Stand: 27. August 2024). Von seinem Allzeithoch, das er im März dieses Jahres bei über 73.000 US-Dollar erreicht hat, hat er sich damit aber wieder deutlich entfernt.
ByBit und BlockScholes stellten fest, dass die Preisbewegung von Bitcoin in den 15 Jahren seines Bestehens "ein unheimliches Wiederholungsmuster gezeigt hat". Schaue man sich die historischen Preisdaten von Bitcoin an, so könne man jeden der drei historischen Zyklen auffallend ähnlicher Preisbewegungen in die drei Phasen Erholung, Boom und Bust unterteilen.
Die Zeitspanne zwischen dem tiefsten Tiefpunkt und dem höchsten Höhepunkt sei, wie es in dem Bericht heißt, jeweils relativ konstant, wobei diese in den letzten beiden Zyklen bei fast 1.060 Tagen und im ersten bei nur 742 Tagen gelegen habe. Das entspreche einem Durchschnitt von 956 Tagen.
Betrachte man das Bitcoin-Tief im November 2022 nach dem FTX-Crash (15.800 US-Dollar) als Beginn des aktuellen "Zyklus", so habe der aktuelle Bitcoin-Bullenmarkt bis zu ByBit und BlockScholes Bericht allerdings erst 624 Tage angedauert. Somit würden ihm im Vergleich zum Durchschnittswert noch weitere 350 Tage in diesem Zyklus bleiben.
Zudem habe der Bitcoin in diesem Zyklus vom Tiefststand bis zum Höchststand lediglich das 3,5-Fache erreicht, während er im Zyklus davor, von 2019 bis 2022 das 20-Fache von Tiefpunkt zu Höchststand erreicht habe.
