I haven’t had a shopping online experience yet. Mostly because stories I hear about these experiences are never a good one. Some of them even happened to people close to me.
There have been countless instances of this happening and I can’t recall all of them but I’ll recount those I remember clearly.
A friend of mine saw a dress online by a vendor who she was in a group chat with. She sent the lady a private message and this woman said she had the dress just the way it was displayed on her status. The lady went ahead to tell my friend that the dress was imported from China under the brand name SHEIN.
I was skeptical but I didn’t want to be the bad blood so I just let my friend go ahead without voicing my concerns. Anyway, two weeks later, the dress arrived. I wasn’t even around when it did but she called me ranting. By the time I went to the see the dress, it was a different colour, poor material and shapeless. The dress I remember my friend placing an order for was a Corset design. What arrived was a basket with mosquito net sewed on top. I can’t even explain and this was long ago so, I have no pictures.
She reached out to the woman only for the woman to say there was an NR (No Return/No Refund) policy. In a moment of anger, I took the phone and asked the woman why she did not first mention that before asking for payment. And then I proceeded to tell her why her business would always face challenges and why God would never bless the works of her hand. Omoh. When I recall that I feel bad to be honest, but some people just bring out the worst in you.
Another I remember was when another friend of mine, a guy this time, ordered a shoe online. Turned out not to be his size and the vendor person seemed to have madness in his head.
All these things just made me decide never to get anything online but I want that to change. A guy I know gets most of his stuff online and he has not had any problems. What I’ll do is start with the safest to build my confidence - I will start with books. Let me start ordering books online first then I will slip into more risky ventures.
