This city you see below is Ponta Delgada on the Azorean island Sao Miguel. This is the largest of the 9 Azorean islands, so in a way Ponta Delgada functions as a capital. But the islands are part of Portugal with easy access from Lisboa. To stay a couple of days in this city, makes a good starting point for exploring the rest of this beautiful island.
